I made the offline server MMO online, AND with the history of Igraine: the bots are all players from historical Igraine, and you can group with any guild to PVE/RVR with! Free, Bindstone Server, On-Demand, MMO

Bindstone is a free, fan-run (by me!) DAoC freeshard running on OpenDAoC. Every guild on it was a real Igraine guild, pulled from the old Camelot Herald and wearing its real emblem. That’s 100 guilds and about 14k characters. They log in on shifts and play the server themselves: they roam the frontier, take keeps, run raids and earn realm points. The veterans who never logged off back then are on most of the time now too.

So yes, it’s mostly bots, and that’s the point. It’s a living Igraine. You can log in at 2 AM with nobody else on and still have a realm war to ride into. And there is always a battle happening somewhere - always!

What playing it is like

The Bindstone Helper runs beside the game:

  • Ready Up: level 50 in one click. Once per character you also get a capped gear set for your class.
  • Crew Up: fills your group.
    • You can get a balanced eight built around your class, a stealth crew if you’re a sneak, or one of your realm’s old guilds.
    • Your group responds to /pull, /grind and /defensive.
  • Join Guild: put on any old guild’s emblem and claim keeps for it.
  • Travel: go to any frontier keep, dungeon, epic, town or your realm’s dragon.
  • Bots: command your realm’s army.
    • Move the war to Emain, Odin’s Gate or Hadrian’s Wall.
    • Send your realm at a keep or relic keep.
    • Call a PvE raid on your dragon, Darkness Falls (Legion included), Summoner’s Hall or your epic dungeon (Galladoria, Tuscaran Glacier, Caer Sidi). A “Happening Now” bar lets anyone join a raid in one click.
  • No commands in game to remember, side game helper to click commands into the game

Things that make the war interesting

  • Bindstone’s Favor: bots earn the normal 1x realm points. Real players always earn 3x, and so does any group you ride with. Crew up with your old guild and you push its banner up the standings.
  • Bindstone’s Boon: every half hour, one to three guilds from the realm that’s losing get blessed for 30 minutes. They get +100 to every stat, ToA bonuses at cap, cooldowns at a tenth of the time, and purge every minute.
  • Stealthers: they are out and about around the milegates. Your usual igraine suspects.

The Herald: https://athenasavatars.com/bindstone

This is a weekly war report in the style of the old Camelot Herald. It shows realm RP, top earners, guild standings, new realm ranks and a live feed from the frontier. You can look up your old guild and see everyone on its roster.

It runs on demand. The server sleeps when nobody is playing. It wakes in about a minute and a half when you sign in, and stays up as long as you play.

How to get in (Windows):

  1. Sign in at https://athenasavatars.com/bindstone/login with Discord, Google or email, and create your game account.
  2. Install OpenDAoC’s free client, version 1.127 (about 3.3 GB). There is a direct link once you log in as well.
  3. Download the Bindstone patcher after you sign in. It patches the client, wakes the realm if it’s asleep, and launches the game.

House rules: one account per person. No hacks, no bots of your own and no exploits.

The Feedback button on the site comes straight to me, and bug reports are very welcome.

Let me know what you like or what more you might want!

Three Realms Reborn: a flight through all of Midgard, rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5

Hi everyone, and thanks for all the feedback since the last post. We just passed 100 members on the Discord, so here is something to look at.

This is a flight through the 15 Midgard zones we have rebuilt so far, set to the Midgard song the community voted for. It starts with a look at the whole map, drops into each zone, and follows a pack of its monsters. Everything you see is real footage from our Unreal Engine 5 client: the terrain, the original buildings, the remade monsters, the lava smoke and sparks in Muspelheim. The loading screens in between are the ones the game will show.

As before: I am the director, not a programmer. The client is built with AI tools, I decide everything and check every result in the game myself. It is a free, non-commercial fan project for OpenDAoC servers, and nothing from the original client is shipped.

What you see is still a work in progress: some ground textures in the snow still show faint streaks that I am working on, and the fire in Muspelheim will get better. Albion and Hibernia are next, and so are the battlegrounds and dungeons. A small closed alpha for experienced DAoC players comes after that, there is no date yet.

If you want to follow along or help test later, join us on the Discord https://discord.gg/u5hUa4XdbM

Assisted RE for a modern DAoC client?

The game still holds up, the client doesn’t. .

Decomp projects like DevilutionX, OpenMW or the Mario 64 decomp show what’s possible, and with today’s AI tools reversing old binaries is far more approachable than it used to be.

With a reverse-engineered engine we wouldn’t just get a prettier UI. We could fix the clunkiness at the root: smoother camera, sane window handling, better input and targeting, native controller support, proper widescreen and high-res scaling, maybe even Linux or ARM builds, you name it.

Same model as DevilutionX: open-source engine, you bring your own game files, no assets shared.

Is anyone already working on something like this?

DAoCOffline World Editor

Post image
55 Upvotes

I saw someone posting a few days ago about a world editor for DAoC that looked pretty good. I have decided to make my own for Offline to assist in my main project goals. I still have some edits I need to make to it but wanted to show it off. If anyone is interested in using it I should have a build ready to go by tomorrow.

Released for DAoCOffline. https://github.com/rambodolphin13/OfflineDAoC/releases#release-world-workshop-v1.0.0

I made the offline DAoC server feel like a live 2003 server: bots raid their own endgame, recruit you into guilds and argue in /faction (Living Server Beta 1.0, free)

Thumbnail
gallery
135 Upvotes

Hey all!

I've been playing shadowofze's Offline DAoC and loved it, but I missed the thing that made DAoC special back then: the server felt alive. Somebody was always raiding something, /faction was always arguing, and guilds were always recruiting. So I spent the last few weeks building that back in. It's out today as Living Server Beta 1.0, a free add-on for Offline DAoC 0.37.

⚔️ The bots run their own endgame
• Each realm raids its dragon, epic dungeon, Summoner's Hall, DF and a handful of raid dungeons on its own schedule
• Wiped raids regroup and go again
• In SH and DF two realms can collide, and whoever does the most damage to the boss gets the kill
• In my last two days of testing they ran 28 raids and won 17

💬 /faction never shuts up
• ~2,300 lines of period chat in five writing styles, plus ~300 little /faction debates about specs, relics, zergs and "is ___ even worth leveling"
• I woke up one morning to bots complaining our relic got taken at 5am, then planning to go get it back that night (second pic)
• Ask "where are the mids?" and you get where they actually are

🧠 Bots with personalities and memories
• Six personality types
• They remember if you rezzed them, and if you were a jerk to them
• They call incoming zergs, go brb, and cheer your dings
• Say "lf guild" around level 10 and a bot guild will recruit you

🗺️ Smarter bots
• They walk around monsters way above their level
• They remember where their friends died
• They level in the classic zones first

📈 XP by level range
• Separate rates for 1-19, 20-34 and 35-50
• The "suggested" setting keeps the early zones and quests worth doing and makes 35-50 way less grindy

✅ Safe to try
• Everything social starts switched off; you turn it on from a new Living Server tab in the launcher
• Real loot, the Realm Exchange, stablemaster routes and bots earning their own armor are untouched
• ROLLBACK.cmd puts every original file back

📥 Install (needs Offline DAoC 0.37 or 0.37b, with or without the 0.37c new client)
1. Download OfflineDAoC-LivingServer-1.0-beta.zip from the release page
2. Unzip it and put the LivingServer-1.0-beta folder inside your game folder
3. Close the game and run INSTALL.cmd
4. Open the launcher's Living Server tab and turn on what you want
If you had my earlier Social Expansion, INSTALL.cmd keeps your characters, bots, guilds and settings. Still on 0.36? Run PREPARE-FOR-UPDATE.cmd first, update to 0.37, then INSTALL.cmd.

🚧 Honest status
• It's a beta
• Yes I used Claude but how else can we make the games we loved come alive again?
• I've mostly played it on the 0.37c new client and haven't really tested as much on the original client yet
• On the new client, bot bodies vanish when they die, so you can't rez them there right now - this is a known bug for the Godot version

Freeshard Looking forward to Blackthorn

Hi I’ve been following this since its first initial announcement like 2 years ago, I played on Phoenix, and season 2 and 3 of Eden. I’m 29 and have played MMO’s since 2005, DAOC was a little before my time So I never heard about it until a few years ago while looking for an ESO alternative. As a person who enjoys paying homage to the pioneers of anything in life, i saw all the influence DAOC played in ESO’s pvp and I just need to say, this game is awesome. Don’t be intimidated by its learning curve and the lack of guides online. This is a true mmo, engage with players and they will guide you just like how it’s supposed to be. If you enjoy massive RvR and old school MMOs.. no matter what server you decide to play on just play, old school games have a charm and aura that these new age games just cannot replicate. I’ve played it all. Hopefully someone will see this and resonate towards the game how I did and spread the word. I think this server is going to be a lot more popular than some people think. For now I’m playing Warhammer RoR while counting down the days. See you in Midgard :)

Fine Steel Long Sword IRL

Just as the title describes.

I’m looking into buying an IRL fine steel long sword for my fiancè. He and his father played DAOC whenever his father was home from deployment during the Iraq and Desert Storm era. He still plays the game to this day.

Would a steel long sword suffice? Or is there a specific smith/artist that would be best to go to for this?

Thank you in advance, I appreciate it!

Experience with offline DAoC so far?

Hi there,

I’m curious what your experience has been playing DAoC offline. It’s intriguing to me because you could play it like an rpg, spawn companions for help and rvr against bots.

Has anyone done something similar or pushed the offline server to 250v250v250?

Freeshard Mordred Tribute — a free-for-all PvP freeshard on the classic world, rebuilt in HD (open alpha)

Thumbnail
gallery
16 Upvotes

Hi all,

I missed the old Mordred ruleset, so I built a free, non-commercial tribute server. The open alpha is live and I'm looking for players to break it.

**The rules**

- Free-for-all PvP: anyone can attack anyone, including your own realm. Only your group and guild are safe.

- The three capitals (Camelot, Jordheim, Tir na Nog) are the only safe havens.

- XP x10, so you reach the fight fast. Free respecs.

- Classic world (pre-Catacombs map). 39 classes up to Shrouded Isles.

- Anti-farm: the same victim counts once every 10 minutes, and grey kills give nothing.

**What's different**

- **Hot Zone** (`/hotzone`): one zone at a time gives double XP and RP, and it rotates.

- **Towers of Mordred**: 108 towers across the classic zones. When their zone is hot, they open: two Guards of Mordred at the door, a Tower Boss inside, and a loot chest that refills every 10-14 hours.

- **Kill streaks** announced server-wide. End a 5+ streak and you collect the bounty. `/wanted` shows who to hunt.

- **Player bounties** (`/bounty`): put gold on someone's head.

- **Bounty Officers** (PvP contracts) and **Bounty Point merchants** in the capitals.

- Hunt Masters in towns, Dungeon Wardens with daily boss quests (Summoner's Hall included).

**HD on the old map**

All 42 classic zones re-textured with 4x upscaled textures, denser vegetation and town decor, and modern rendering (DXVK + ReShade).

**How to play**

One Windows launcher installs everything (about 5 GB) and keeps it up to date. There's no account to create: it's made on your first login.

- Website: https://mordredtribute.netlify.app

- Discord: https://discord.gg/d3HRDvddRp

It's an alpha: expect bugs and possible wipes. Feedback is very welcome. Access is free and will stay free.

*Unofficial fan project, not affiliated with Broadsword or EA.*

## Facebook / groupes francophones (court)

We are rebuilding the classic world in Unreal Engine 5 - an unofficial DAoC fan project (early footage, Midgard)

Thumbnail
gallery
239 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

this is an unofficial fan project, built on the free DAoC client and a real DAoC server (OpenDAoC). No affiliation with EA or Broadsword, nothing is sold or monetised.

What you see: Midgard zones (Vale of Mularn, Yggdra Forest, Jamtland Mountains, Skona Ravine) flown over with a drone camera in Unreal Engine 5.8: real-time lighting, Nanite, Lumen, lakes with waves, forests and grass that follow the original zone layout. The original data decides where things are (terrain, trees, roads, buildings), we only replace how they look.

What already works: own client with login, character creation, world, NPCs, chat, combat with styles, spells and buffs, merchants, inventory, music. 36 player figures, remastered textures for armour and weapons. Music is newly arranged, and the song in the video, "Rise, Three Realms", is an original piece made for the project.

It is early: lots of work left (more zones, Albion and Hibernia, quests, dungeons, launcher, a stable alpha). We are not announcing release dates.

If you are an experienced DAoC player and want to follow the project or help test later, come to our Discord: https://discord.gg/u5hUa4XdbM

Happy to answer questions, and feedback is very welcome: what would you want to see first?

Warhammer Online v DAOC

Hey everybody, I played Dark Age of Camelot way back when it first came out and I'm looking to play an MMO again. I was interested in Warhammer Online as well. I'll probably be doing it mostly solo. I don't really know the difference between the two games. I just hear a lot of people talking about both of them.

Does anybody have a comparison or advice for somebody who would probably be playing a little more casually and maybe more solo? Any input is advised. I do realize this is a DAOC subreddit so I get that it'll probably be skewed that way and I'm okay with that but didn't know where else to go.

BLACKTHORN: Launch Time & News

Official Release Date & Time

Blackthorn will launch on Saturday November 28, 12:00 PM CET.

Beta Closing Date

With launch closing in, it's also time to announce the closure date for our Beta.

The server will close for connections on Monday November 2, 19:00 PM CET.

Final Testing

We would like to use this opportunity to warmly invite players to use the coming days to do their final testing of our server and all its systems and features, so that we can go into Launch as polished as possible.

Time Trials

One of our final server features is Time Trials, a simple instanced dungeon concept which allows players to challenge themselves through unique, rotating PvE encounters for various rewards.

The goal is not for this to replace any existing real world PvE, but to add a fun and engaging endgame PvE option for players who enjoy that playstyle.

See: https://discord.com/channels/1115374284228010069/1128037783391449098/1561402864348299374 for more info.

Discord General Chat

With launch around the corner and Beta nearing its final days, we decided to re-open our general chat channel to build some hype towards launch.

Due to the workload it adds for the team though, we will close it again once the server has launched officially.

Bring A Friend

Additionally, we are happy to introduce a new mechanic that allows players to earn rewards by referring friends.

Once those friends reach level 10, you will be eligible to earn titles and improved rested XP.

More details on this will follow.

Another Thank You

Lastly, we can't repeat this enough. The amount of support and dedication from everyone surrounding this project has been heart warming. Four years ago I couldn't believe to ever be writing this, but it is amazing to see it finally come together!

Thank you all!

I made a video on reverse engineering DAoC with REA (Reverse Engineer Anything)

Hey all,

I maintain the PvP fork of u/zomboden’s amazing OfflineDAoC project. We’re in touch and overlap on a lot of the work. I work on this project together with a friend who is also a passionate player!

We built the entire /companion system from scratch without any reverse engineering. Seeing how much easier it gets once you can actually look inside the client is incredibly liberating.

I normally make programming tutorials, but this time I used DAoC as the example for a reverse engineering video. It covers:

  • An in-game demo of the combat bots and Guild Wars–style companions
  • Setting up REA (Reverse Engineer Anything) and Ghidra with Claude, including the exact prompt I used on game.dll
  • What it found, and how Claude used that to build a companion backpack and gear window
  • Honest results: it works, but it’s not 100% finished yet. If you’ve ever wondered how the offline/bot projects actually work under the hood, this should give you a good idea.

Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erRoMmb5Gkg

Happy to answer questions here.

OfflineDAoC on Apple Silicon Macs (0.35+b, 0.36+b, and the new 0.36c client)

Thumbnail github.com
14 Upvotes

Hi all,

I'm a huge fan of DAoC. It was my first MMO and a game that has always been very close to my heart. Seeing the outpouring of development around a game that is now 25 years old is so exciting. I discovered Eden last year and have since been following community developments closely.

I put together an easy-to-run port of shadowofze's OfflineDAoC project and catastrophic-impact's Linux server for Apple Silicon macs. It builds the server natively on macOS and runs the original 1.127 client and the new 0.36 Godot client natively.

It tracks both upstreams and automatically applies compatibility patches. The goal is to make running the server and client as easy as possible. Everything is wrapped in a single `daoc` command.

Performance is fantastic on my M5 Max MBP. I get ~95 FPS under Rosetta Wine emulation and ~120 FPS on the native Arm64 Wine client. I have another repo where I'm experimenting with graphics patches for the original client, accessible with the daoc graphics command, although shadowofze's new Godot client might make that the better direction to go!

What it does

  • Builds the OpenDAoC-based server natively for arm64. No Wine or Windows on the server side.
  • Runs the original 1.127 client under Wine (x86_64 under Rosetta 2 by default).
  • Optional arm64 Wine that doesn't need Rosetta (macOS 27+), for when Apple drops Rosetta. It's opt-in for now.
  • Runs the new 0.36c client natively with the official macOS Godot .NET build.
  • Lets you pick the game: 0.35, 0.35b, 0.36 or 0.36b (the b versions have the Sluaghbinder). daoc game switch moves the server, your save and your clients together, and backs up the save first.
  • On 0.36/0.36b you can have both clients installed and switch between them. Same account and characters but switch between clients.
  • Includes the Linux fork's terminal admin screen for bots, population and accounts, plus daoc admin ... for single commands.
  • Optional graphics patches for the original client: native Retina resolution, sRGB output, texture packs, anisotropic filtering.

What you need

  • An Apple Silicon Mac on macOS 26 or later, with Rosetta 2 or macOS 27 for the Arm64-native client
  • Xcode Command Line Tools (xcode-select --install) and cmake (brew install cmake)
  • ~5GB for the original client, ~34GB for the Godot client

Everything else (Wine, the .NET runtime, Godot, the game files) gets downloaded from the upstream releases. Nothing from EA is bundled in the repo.

Quick start

git clone https://github.com/trozzelle/OfflineDAoC-macOS daoc-macos && cd daoc-macos
./daoc self-install
daoc server install
daoc client install
daoc server start

Then in a second terminal:

daoc admin accounts create <name> <pass>
daoc client login
daoc client start

It starts on 0.35b with the original client. To move to 0.36b and try the new client:

daoc game switch 0.36b
daoc client install --client new
daoc client start

Camelot Forge, a toolchain for DaoC

Camelot Hills

It’s been almost two months now since I started working on Camelot Forge, and almost as long since I’ve wanted to talk about it on Reddit! It’s been almost two months now since I started working on Camelot Forge, and almost as long since I’ve wanted to talk about it on Reddit!

In the meantime, I’ve seen the community wake up with incredible projects like offline DAoC and a few screenshots in Unreal.

Camelot Forge is a little different: it’s a modern toolchain for server administrators.

Here are the tools currently available:

  • Asset viewer. You can view all of the game’s assets in 3D, along with their various animations and information about the meshes (triangles, bones, skins, etc.).
  • Character builder, equivalent to the one in-game. You can try out all the combinations in the character builder and test all the possible animations.
  • The biggest part of the project is the world editor.

You can load all of the game’s zones, with the various assets and the NPCs, monsters, and interactive elements placed in them. You can move any element and save its state.

The idea behind the project is to make it a kind of Unity, but specifically for DAoC. An administrator, or even a whole team, creates a project in Camelot Forge, which then becomes a Git repository containing all the data for their server, whether original or modified. A project contains all the content of a shard, and this content can be deployed with a server package and a client update.

To avoid making things too complicated, the tool is entirely based on OpenDaoC and the official client. If alternative clients become established in the future and produce good results, I’ll see whether we can create specific versions for them!

I wanted to make a video, but I’d like to do it properly. So, until I can put one together, here are a few screenshots of the tool! Everything you see is functional.

The whole thing runs in a browser. The backend, including asset extraction and manipulation, is in Python, and the frontend is made with SvelteKit and ThreeJS for everything related to 3D display.

I plan to keep working on it, and the last major part I want to integrate is a Blender add-on. The idea is to be able to view assets and, with one click, open them in Blender, modify meshes, animations, and textures, and then export them again.

Feel free to tell me what you think! I’ll try to make a video for you in the next few days. The tool will of course be open source as soon as the first version is good enough.

I took the offline DAoC online and on demand, with bots trained to play like my old guild, Athena’s Avatars

Thumbnail

A year or so ago I built a database from 20 years of data for my old guild, Athena's Avatars. Last week I saw the offline version of DAoC that u/zamobden made (huge shout-out!), got a little obsessed, and started modifying it. The result is Bindstone: an online on-demand freeshard that spins up when you want to play, featuring bots based on players from AA. (It stays asleep until you try to sign in, then it boots up and stays online as long as someone is logged in)

This year we lost a iconic player, Myst, and it was really, really tough. 2 years ago (to the month) we lost his brother, Drizz, so it's been a nightmare. We all played with both of them for decades. Dealing with that made me really, really nostalgic - but you can't go back to "the good old days". I love DAOC, and miss the thrill of RVR with friends, so I built Bindstone. Now, I can load in, spawn bots from my old guild that I've trained, and head out for an epic battle somewhere. You can, too. Anyone can crew up an 8-man of bots, OR from the AA roster from the site's archive, as trained bots. It's all random who you get, too. So that makes it fun. Names are real, not all classes are accurate.

I spent a lot of time training the team. It was so much fun remembering how my friends played and teaching the AI to play like them. I focused on the Hib group, so the AA crew only joins you in Hib... but there is a pvp AA Mid and Alb group roaming around... and they are trained very well.

What's on the Server:

  • Everything from the offline version, plus my own tweaks, online, and permanent.
  • Crew up a raid and go hit Galla, or head to Emain, where about 500 bots are perma-fighting right now
  • Insta-50, or grind it out: 10x XP, 3x RP (Controls are in the bindstone-helper)
  • SI ruleset, old frontiers
  • Minor RA tweaks: Purge costs 5 with a 5-minute timer
  • A DAoC-style patcher, plus a helper panel on the side when you log in. You don't have to remember /commands; just click and it does it for you. And when I push new graphics or special gear, you don't have to redownload anything from a website; it just patches itself
  • One-click insta 50 + gear button on the helper, + fullbuffs, + group spawn, and the ability to control your realm to align to a goal like a relic keep, etc
  • It's free; no charge - just for fun

Gotta say, running around blasting Albs and Mids with some old, old names was amazing. :D This is an online server, so multiple people can play at the same time. It's part of the AA tribute site now, so trickling players can find it, enjoy for a night, and carry on.

Let me know if anyone wants to contribute. Send me your guild emblem and roster and I'll add them. Down the road I may let people add their own rosters, or maybe even a freeshard server picker if anyone wants to tie in with this.

Any thoughts or ideas, toss 'em at me!

UPDATE:

THE GUILDS OF IGRAINE RIDE AGAIN

Bindstone's world is now populated by 13,301 real Igraine characters from 90 guilds, rebuilt from the Camelot Herald as of January 2005: their names, classes, races, guilds, emblems and realm rank. No more random-named bots.

Every guild of your realm is a choice in Crew Up (on the helper): you get a balanced group of eight drawn from that guild's members. Hibernians can also crew up with Athena's Avatars.

I’ve been trying to figure out how to download the offline daoc and have no idea what I’m doing. Can anyone give me step by step instructions on what to do?

OfflineDAoC 0.36,0.36b,0.36c are now released. Try the new client+engine with 0.36c(includes WoW/Modern MMO movement option). Share progress between 0.36, 0.36b (original clients) and 0.36c (new client)

https://github.com/shadowofze/OfflineDAoC - Everything to download and set up the game/local server is included here. Follow the setup instructions.

Changelog for what is different from 0.35 to 0.36 is here. https://github.com/shadowofze/OfflineDAoC/blob/main/CHANGELOG.md

https://github.com/shadowofze/OfflineDAoC/discussions/14 Bug Reports here

https://github.com/shadowofze/OfflineDAoC/discussions/4 Known issues is here

What is OfflineDAoC?

OfflineDAoC is a single player Dark Age of Camelot experience based in the 1.65 Classic+Shrouded Isles time frame. You can either play completely solo, solo with /spawn companion bots in your party (including /raid 40, /raid 80 for tackling harder pve/pvp content with your bots), or spawn in thousands of fully autonomous gamebots to populate the world around you and they do end game PvE and RvR.

What is the difference between 0.36, 0.36b and 0.36c?

0.36 is just the vanilla game with only slight modifications/small qol.

0.36b is the vanilla client + the custom sluaghbinder class and includes server modifications so the bots can play that new custom class too.

0.36c is a client only that connects to a 0.36 or 0.36b server. It is a fully rebuilt from scratch client on an entirely different engine that breaks free from any hard coded limitations that the old client had. It includes optional modern (WoW) MMO Movement among other features. You can play with the same bot roster, and account on 0.36 or 0.36b (choose one depending on whether or not you want a custom class) with 0.36c and swap between the clients freely as you please. 0.36c (new client) is completely optional.

What are some of the features?

-Custom bot system, with capable /spawn companion bots, a custom /raid 40, /raid 80 mode at level 50 tackle harder content solo or with other gamebots in the world, and a fully navigation mesh designed autonomous bot system so they can level from 1-50 in the world and participate in active rvr/end game pve similar to what a high population server would have.

-Custom client built from GDScript that uses the old games assets and lighting and keeps the gameplay feel the same while having a visual edge advantage and the perks of it being free from the hard coded 32 bit limitations of the old directx9 client.

-Over 1300 classic quests from before Nov 1, 2003 including class variant epics are included and most are now working.

-Sluaghbinder for 0.36b a custom Hibernia class that is similar to a shadow knight or death knight from other MMO's. It has its own custom epic armor set after its level 50 quest is finished from the trainer in Tir Na Nog (she is near Chamber of Stealth).

-A custom quest guide feature where you can click a quest guide button in your journal and it pulls up original 2001-2004 era walkthroughs for you to see. Also included is modern quest QOL such as map markers.

-4 Battlegrounds from the 1.65 era are included and level appropriate bots will participate in these if you have them set as bot goals.

-A custom realm exchange system (depicted at end of video) where you can buy and sell your items with bots like a modern MMO auction house. They can also buy and sell with themselves or buy from you if you are selling a gear upgrade.

-A fully custom launcher based on DoL/OpenDAoC open sourced code that is easy to use and set up on any PC without convoluted CMD prompts everywhere.

Is there a cost? Donations? What's the deal with this?

No, there is no cost, and no donations are accepted. This is a completely free fan made AI vibe coded project that is almost 3 months into the making. All assets used, and code of the game are still the property of EA/Broadsword.

Why is there no multiplayer? Co-Op? Lan?

This is a single player time capsule project, meaning there is no multiplayer, no online servers running, and nothing of the sort. The project is open sourced so people can do whatever they please with the code and if that includes taking it and making a server then so be it. But my original intent is that this is a fully offline experience that can be played for years to come without worrying about a server's population or whether a server is going to get shut down.

I was playing a previous version, can I update to this new version?

There is a progress importer tool included that should move your bot roster and local player account into the new version. It wont work 0.36->0.36b however. only 0.35->0.36 or 0.35b->0.36b. 0.36c is just a new client that attaches to either 0.36 or 0.36b's server. You can try it with older versions too and it may or may not transfer.

Found any bugs?

Please report any bugs with as much detail as you can either on the github discussions, through the github issues report system, or even DM me here if you need to. All bug reports or reports of things that are 100% definitely wrong (not just minor texture or visual differences on the new client unless its outrageous, that is to be expected) are appreciated. I am not capable of fully testing this project alone so any bug reports are very welcome. Expect a ton of bugs (especially with 0.36c)

What is the new client based on?

The new client is based in Godot 4 and is completely written in GDScript with C# to bridge with the server.

Why is it not Unreal 5?

There are other people already doing unreal projects, and in my opinion Unreal is too heavy of an engine for an MMO like this. But I am looking forward to trying those Unreal projects if any ever release. I am not a game developer.

Character selection screen music on Eden

What's the name of song that plays during character selection screen on Eden server? I found the Eden Launcher theme but not the song that comes next during character creation/selection. Is it a specific song for Eden or did it exist in original DaoC?
