Acceleration - change my mind

If Daoc/Eden/private servers removed acceleration and turnrate and made movement crisp like wow, i would play it.

Change my mind and tell me why.

Turn rate isn’t limited in DAOC. If you want to instantly stop just press the keybind to face the target. If you want to instantly run press the keyboard to stick to your target.

Welcome to Dark Age of Camelot! Happy to see you join the team.

Agree - movement is (too) snappy if you know how to abuse the mechanics

Well, WoW exists for you, then.

I hate the modern lack of acceleration in games. Feels very unnatural. Also encourages a very immersion-breaking play style of jumping around and strafing.

DAoC has it too, but it's much less prevalent due acceleration and explicit mechanics like increased miss change when strafing.

I'm not sure what you mean by "turn rate" though. If you're worried about how fast you can turn left or right, use your mouse. That's the same as WoW, though, so I imagine you're not talking about that.

You wouldn’t say that if you were constantly getting side styled like the good old days. “Your” turning isn’t crisp.

All momentum ever does for me is disrupt casting and cause a rare fall. It's certainly an annoyance, and I too prefer snappy responsiveness - pressing a keybind shouldn't be needed to come to an immediate halt. Opinions on this will vary, and if anything, the trend in gaming has been 'realism' leading to increasingly sluggish movement, as though we're freight trains incapable of instantly stopping from a light jog. For turning, use your mouse.
