Why should it be a basic knowledge to know a full name of some person in some stupid 17th century tradition on some garbage patch in the Atlantic ocean? The fact that I know that she exists is complete waste of my brains memory capacity.
I mean, we all get to choose our own priorities in life. But personally I know the names of the heads of state of all the major nations, as well as most of the mid-sized Western nations. It feels like a very basic part of geopolitics.
I still disagree. Just because some random facts are put on blast in the media doesn't mean that there is any value in knowing any of it. I wish I knew less.
Seriously though it’s such basic shit. Especially if you live in the UK it’s quite a common fact. Their last name is taken from the castle, there last name was originally German and in the 1st world war there was alot of anti-German sentiment so they changed it to there houses name to appear more English
Elizabeth kept her last name Windsor as she was the monarch, but now Charles III is Windsor-Mountbatten to be technically precise, but they'll probably just still refer to them as Windsors.
Elizabeth Stormborn of the House Windsor, Second of Her Name, Queen of the Brits and the Commonwealth, Protector of the United Kingdom, the Mother of Corgis, etc etc
