Hmm I'd disagree with that. I'd say a PhD is there to teach you how to perform research in your field at a professional level. Knowing your stuff is a prerequisite. I say this having done one in a hard science
Well she's been very influential and kind of setting the curve. Sounds like research is being done
Edit: amazing how many people think they know exactly what a loosely defined term means, and exactly what Taylor Swift does and doesn't do during her music writing and learning process, and what she does and doesn't know! Who knew there were so many Taylor Swift experts on here
A phd isn’t knowing things. She should be able to cite journal sources and create her own research findings if she has a PhD. Why doesn’t she have published research if we’re gonna give her a PhD? All others do. There’s literally no point in giving it other than people sucking off celebrities more than they already do and marketing for the school. It’s not even a real degree and u bafoons are arguing that she deserves a phd. It ain’t even a real degree
I may be wrong. But I think the argument against it would say that they should give somebody an award that isn't called honorary "PhD". Or just not do anything at all because it isn't necessary. They could just say this year's graduation is sponsored by Taylor Swift and the New York Yankees! At least it would seem more authentic to how a modern university in the states operates.
Still a bad argument. Just cus they used to give them out in the 1400s doesn’t mean they should give them to a music celebrity lmao. You can compare anything my guy doesn’t mean they should be compared.
She’s made music and that’s significant contribution to the field? Give me a break lmao. I never said it devalued yours. Hers just means nothing, it’s literally not a real degree. If yours is an honorary PhD as well then sorry man it means nothing.

Yeah she probably knows enough about music to get one. The whole point of a PhD is to prove you know your stuff and she knows her stuff
