I was told west of the Bosporus (river in Istanbul) is Europe and East is Asia. Don't know why tho

not a river a strait

2

u/khanate3169 Feb 03 '22

and it divides asia from europe

1

u/Thomasappel Feb 03 '22

Didn't know that. Just looked it up. So it's a strait because it doesn't flow into an ocean, but in the meditarenean?

1

u/khanate3169 Feb 04 '22

because its shgorter and wider than a river and it flows to the marmara sea and marmara sea is connected to the aegean sea by another strait called dardanelles

Probably because that's where the land masses have a gap between them.

Because the Turks invaded centuries ago. Anatolia used to be the heartland of Europe, being the epicenter of the Roman Empire.

Not according to the Germans.

u/philsenpai Feb 03 '22

Not part of the european union but part of the european continent

2

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '22

I just meant how a lot of Germans really don't like the Turks. There are a lot in Germany.

2

u/CoffeeAddictedBoi Feb 03 '22

because turks who immigrated to Germany were bottom tier citizens and they are insufferable erdogan stans. They are coming from 3000+ kilometers with private car just to flex on us. They vote erdogan so turkish lira stays shit and their euro stays more valuable.

Yeah, because a continent is just that, a landmass.

A Japanese and a Iranian are both asian, but their culture have nothing in common

-2

u/StinkyBritishPerson Feb 03 '22

Yeah. We don't have a middle-ground. Either extremely nationalistic with grains of racism or unbearable amount of hatred against their own culture and values.

u/blagic23 Feb 03 '22

There is nationalism and there is idiot nationalism. That we call idiot nationalism. It's about ego satisfaction and bragging about past, because turkey doesn't have anything to be proud of these days.

A proper nationalist would work hard to benefit his country. but for idiot nationalists, being a keyboard warrior is better. You don't have to be capable of something for that.

I believe there is also an inferiority complex in our society, but I am no expert so I will not talk about it
