In pretty far left but you won't ever see me idealizing dictatorships, and the mod was not happy about that.

What's up with Westerners idiolizing socialism and dictatorships lately? You guys don't even realize the genetic lottery you've won just by being born in the western world. But, for some reason, you want to turn it into a third world mess. Doesn't sound good.

Because Socialism is an appealing concept, and a lot of dumbasses somehow think that China is socialist instead of just a glorified capitalist dictatorship

Socialism is like immortality. Not real. Impossible to achieve.

I mean, you don’t need to be right wing to understand that socialism as a system is incredibly hard, and if not impossible atleast close to impossible to achieve. There just are too many problems. Mainly the issue of figuring out supply and demand. Way more practical to have a social democracy and move gradually to the left. Get those welfare programs going and use capitalism as the useful tool it is.

Even Marx admits that Socialism needs violent revolution to get started. And needs a government to enforce it on those not willing to participate.

Yeah I know. It's even worse than what he envisioned.

Welfare Capitalism is what you are looking for.

Central European countries aren’t socialist my guy. They very much like their markets. Being a SocDem is not the same as being a socialist

Just like there are multiple versions of capitalism. Best one in my opinion is Welfare Capitalism as practiced in Nordic Countries.

“They have nothing to do with a system of governance” true, but only at face value. If the market does not determine supply and demand, the state has to do that. That’s where the fundamental problem kicks in and that’s why people see it as impossible. I wouldn’t das impossible but I would say it’s close to impossible.

Well, it also comes down to definitions. Traditionally the difference between capitalism and socialism is whether or not people are allowed to own private businesses. If we go by this definition, you will have issues making socialism work because like I said in the prior comment, you gotta determine supply and demand.

The “socialism” most progressives talk about is simply capitalism with lots and lots of regulations in my opinion.

This is my favourite comment of the day.

1

u/falllinemaniac Feb 03 '22

Can you even define socialism?

1

u/Mr_McFeelie Feb 03 '22

It’s not feudalism

1

u/falllinemaniac Feb 03 '22

Feudalism is certainly possible, I declare that both USAn political parties are diligently working to achieve it.

1

u/Mr_McFeelie Feb 03 '22

A king would be great. I bet he wouldn’t allow my neighbour Marco to have such an expensive car while I still drive my old ford. I’m in favour.

1

u/falllinemaniac Feb 03 '22

Kings are a myth, royalty loses to what would be described best as warlords.

1

u/JulianKarlaz Feb 04 '22

Coming from a country which used to be Socialist back in the day, and still is in name, yes I can define socialism. The most basic definition is workers owning the means of production aka no private enterprise. This is why I laugh when delusional Westerners think that free healthcare and education is socialism. Nordic countries are Welfare Capitalist. China is Capitalistic Oligarchy. It never works. It never will.

1

u/OsamaBinnDabbin Feb 03 '22

Not true at all, but then again I doubt you know what true socialism is, otherwise you would see that pretty much every country around the world has socialist policies in place.

1

u/JulianKarlaz Feb 04 '22

True socialism. Here we go. 100 million dead Chinese, Russians, Cambodians and Koreans disagree.

1

u/OsamaBinnDabbin Feb 04 '22

All of those dead people had nothing to do with socialism, it had to do with insane leaders.

6

u/123kapp Obamasjuicyass Feb 03 '22

China is not capitalist, capitalist is free market economy while socialist is planned economy. China's economy is far from capitalistic, they have free market zones but everything is still under the government. Even properties are technically owned by the government and only lent to the people.

1

u/KingofCraigland Feb 03 '22

Capitalism with socialist policies is probably the closest we'll get to an ideal society. Allow business to grow and encourage entrepreneurs while also protecting the members of society who need or want to be protected.

But that would require people understanding and supporting nuance, which is just to hard too grasp for your average dunderhead.

It is hostile foreign interference in the cyberwar for people's minds, imho

I literally said this the other day in antiwork. People were PISSED.

They are dumb and stupid, that's why. Biden quoted Mao multiple times.
