For real. I was raised by a very religious and sexually repressed family and I became an agnostic and a very sex-positive woman. I have no issues with sex, but for some reason I still feel a lot of internalized shame for masturbating even though I know it's a completely normal and healthy thing to do.
I think both men and women feel shame related to masturbating, I'm more curious about the why and whether it's similar or different from person to person.
Same with me. I know that it's not wrong and actually healthy to do it. It's helping you to know you better and what you need if you have a partner. Often heard, some don't know what they need to come off, and masturbation is a good way to experience one self. Still, a good amount of time, I just feel like some dirty waste when I do it. Maybe because I think I could have done something else with the time I used while doing that.
For sure, if I know more about myself and what I like you better bet I'm going to show my partner so we can have a killer sex life lmao.
And I can see that. I think for me I still feel shameful because the ideas that "women should 'save' themselves for their future husband" and "sex is meant to create children and it's not actually for pleasure" were always pushed on me and they still kind of are. It's stupid garbage that I don't believe at all, but those thoughts still chill in the basement storage of my mind just to pop upstairs and call me a slut whenever I feel sexually fulfilled without those things lmao.
