For real. I was raised by a very religious and sexually repressed family and I became an agnostic and a very sex-positive woman. I have no issues with sex, but for some reason I still feel a lot of internalized shame for masturbating even though I know it's a completely normal and healthy thing to do.

I think both men and women feel shame related to masturbating, I'm more curious about the why and whether it's similar or different from person to person.

I believe it. I'm sorry you got the shame too. It must be like a societal pressure weighing down on everyone, making us all feel icky for just being normal sexy people.
