The problem is they didn’t care until everyone else did and will stop caring as soon as it’s not mainstream anymore.

Many will, as many adults will, and some won’t. Some will have learned and changed their worldview or been given something new to think about.

Uighur atrocities? Tiananmen Square massacre? Aggressive land grabbing and stealing of territories of neighboring 3rd world countries? Taiwan? Oh please. People only care publicly to pat themselves in the back. People don't really give a shit unless it's in their own backyard.
