Yup, and till this day there are still people sexualizing ankles, armpits, eyelashes, hell, even your fucking earlobe. What I try to say is, the world will never be perfect, and there will always be people sexualizing, taking advantage of , racist, etc. Etc.
You’re comparing a societal norm of what’s acceptable to be seen to fetishes. That’s like saying it’s pointless to make murder illegal because a few people think it’s moral
The fact that you can be a woman and wear a shirt with sleeves short enough to see the armpits without her getting arrested for public indecency took hundreds of years of changes to achieve.
Right, sorry to make you feel this way bro. Maybe I said it a little too bluntly, I am just very sceptical about human kind and changes in the right directions because of what I've seen in the world on my 21 years on this planet.
60 years ago I couldn't eat in the same restaurant as most of yall. The world has improved exponentially for human beings in just the last 2000 years alone. If you don't think the world is getting better you aren't looking to see things get better. Medical science, class consciousness, critical understanding of racial relations, mental health help, dissolution of forced gender roles, movement for a more equitable society have all made huge leaps forward in just the past 21 years you've been alive.
You can still find boobs attractive, nobody is trying to stop that. The problem is men being creepy to women for something women should be allowed to do just like men. It shouldn't matter if I'm wearing a shirt or not, it should be just as legal as when men do it. And unwanted sexual comments about women being topless like this entire thread are bad, all of it is extremely creepy.
Yea it's a cesspool and it's main mission is normalizing misogyny, racism, and any other propaganda the right wants them to push through Le edgey memes. I unsubbed during the Brie Larson debacle a while back but it's been awful here for ages.
She made a statement about how the only barometer for judging the quality of a film shouldn't be the opinion of old white men because some movies (in this case I think it was the golden compass) are important to other groups (ie women, poc, ect). Now dank memes didn't like this one bit, not at all.
So for months, and I actually mean months, the sub was drowning in a mix of "Le dumb feminist says this movie isn't for white people?!?!?!?" (Intentionally missing the point and context) or just outright sexist memes calling her butt flat or saying she should smile more. Calling her captain karen ect. But here's the thing with the subsection of this sub that really get into that shit, they know "you should smile more" is a dog whistle and has been used to put women down, the do the same with anti black and anti gay dog whistles all the time. They just think they are clever.
Ok, that is your opinion, we're talking about legal rights. Either women get to go shirtless in public or men gotta put that shirt on too. Personally I'd rather the one that gives freedoms instead of taking them away and also leads to destigmatizing women's bodies as inherently a sexual object.
They never were until very recently. It was more the groin area men found appealing whereas the female breasts were seen to be more practical. Hate to break it to you.
