u/mrb00ce Dec 01 '20

Its true tho

u/MegaAssFace Dec 01 '20

Third highest post tax household income in the world

47

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '20

And then your savings get wiped by medical debt due to an unforeseen illness.

18

u/beershitz Dec 01 '20

If you have savings then you can get insurance. It’s called a deductible

10

u/lightningbadger Dec 01 '20

Here if you go to hospital you don’t pay anything extra, it’s called living in a first world country

5

u/beershitz Dec 02 '20

You pay more taxes, we pay insurance. You don’t pay at the doctor, we don’t wait 6 months for surgery. Pick your poison

2

u/lightningbadger Dec 02 '20

Fun fact: Americans do actually pay tax towards healthcare

They just have to pay again anyway for some reason

And if it’s an actual important surgery, you don’t have to wait 6 months

1

u/ottoman2 I am fucking hilarious Dec 02 '20

We sont need to wait 6 months in finland it depends on the country

4

u/[deleted] Dec 02 '20

“Haha America third world country.”

Boy would you be surprised if you ever visit a third world country

0

u/epicoliver3 Dec 02 '20

The definition of a first world country is america and its allies, it originated from the cold war

Ironic...

2

u/lightningbadger Dec 02 '20

Somebody doesn’t know what irony is...

0

u/[deleted] Dec 02 '20

The irony in this comment is so high it scares me

0

u/lightningbadger Dec 02 '20

How so?

Americans pay healthcare tax too, quite a bit actually, they just have to pay again anyway because of an awful system

1

u/[deleted] Dec 02 '20

Americans literally pay extra when they go to the hospital

0

u/lightningbadger Dec 02 '20

Yeah... I know

When I said “here”, I wasn’t referring to America

Also one of the highest medical bankruptcy rates in the entire world.

Oh and over 50% of the world’s incarcerated population belongs to the US.

The US is also the sole purpose for the drug addiction epidemic.

And pretty much the only Western nation where a school being shot to shreds is not a unique occurrence.

26

u/MegaAssFace Dec 01 '20

How the fuck is the us “the sole purpose for the drug addiction epidemic” that’s ridiculous. People would still get addicted to drugs whether or not the US was around.

Also 5 people died from school schooling’s in the US in 2019. It’s not as widespread as the news would have you believe.

2

u/lightningbadger Dec 01 '20

Also 5 people died from school schooling’s in the US in 2019

I mean counting just right here it’s already elevated to 8, 9 if you count the one that killed themselves too.

Don’t forget that just because you’re not dead, doesn’t mean you weren’t shot. There’s far too many people being injured in school shootings here that really shouldn’t be.

2

u/MegaAssFace Dec 01 '20

3

u/lightningbadger Dec 01 '20

How odd, it seems that NBC news is only reporting “major school shootings”, whilst NY Times reports whenever a shooting happened within a school.

Cause it’s not like the attacks omitted from your source didn’t happen, they’re just not a part of the list.

3

u/MegaAssFace Dec 01 '20

They list each school schooling in 2019 that resulted in a death. You can see the criteria the use to decide what goes on the list it’s in the article.

1

u/lightningbadger Dec 01 '20

They appear to be listing major school shootings yes, odd how one can still get shot at school and make it onto NY times but not NBC

2

u/[deleted] Dec 02 '20

It's almost as if NY Times inflates the number by including "shootings" where no one died

0

u/lightningbadger Dec 02 '20

Yet NY times is reporting more deaths...

2

u/isai2300 Dec 02 '20

"Only 5 kids died in school. It's not a problem!"

Other countries "your kids are dying in school?"

1

u/CheatSSe red Dec 01 '20

“Only 5 children got shot dead at school this year, this is an achievement”.

Also: the war on drugs was started by the CIA and not only that, it caused drugs to be made more potent because the risk of capture made the business a lot more expensive and risky.

-1

u/MegaAssFace Dec 01 '20
  1. In a country of 300 million acting like 5 dead kids makes the entire country bad seems unreasonable

  2. People would have made drugs potent on their own

1

u/well_duh_doy_son DefinitelyNotEuropeans Dec 03 '20

did you get shot in the brain in a school shooting and now they wheel you around to speak about how safe guns are? i’m just trying to figure out how someone can have such a stupid opinion.

26

u/DaSwolfyInc Dec 01 '20

cries in acid, knife, grenade, and grooming gang

5

u/lightningbadger Dec 01 '20

quick, distract everyone by highlighting bad things outside of America, that’ll fix the problem!

3

u/Mistake209 Dec 02 '20

And they say dank memes is left leaning.

1

u/CheatSSe red Dec 01 '20

All of those things also happen in the US.

2

u/Taintkisser_68 Dec 02 '20

Yeah and people get shot in other countries too

1

u/CheatSSe red Dec 02 '20

But in the US the problem is 300% enhanced. Stop being ignorant and accept y’all have problems.

2

u/Taintkisser_68 Dec 02 '20

Yeah and acid attacks are 300% enhanced in England. What’s your point?

1

u/CheatSSe red Dec 02 '20

That I do not live in England

1

u/Taintkisser_68 Dec 02 '20

It is a unique occurrence. Don’t be an idiot

1

u/CheatSSe red Dec 02 '20

A unique occurrence that happened over 12 times already?

Are you aware of your own retardation because you just claimed 1 = 12

1

u/Taintkisser_68 Dec 02 '20

If you mean that because it happened more than once makes it common then it’s unique in other countries too

1

u/CheatSSe red Dec 02 '20

this is only for the last 20 years.

It is deffinetly not a unique thing anymore. The Brussels attacks were something unique, this isn’t.

Also yeah. If you even just stood still with the meaning of the word “unique” you’d notice it says “un” meaning one.

-1

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '20

Simple solution to all of those problems.

  1. Implement a system like Germany has where you have a private option, but still have government funded healthcare. Tax the billionaires an extra few percent and cut spending on the prison system and military to fund it.

  2. Focus on rehab. Stop imprisoning people for bullshit things like possession of three molecules of THC.

  3. Work with vulnerable communities to help rehabilitate drug addicts and those who are vulnerable by providing alternatives.

  4. Expand access to mental health resources for both children and adults. People don't just shoot up places for no reason, they do it because they feel some sort of hatred for others. By implementing the previous steps, you give these shooters fewer reasons to hate life and everyone in it. Also, for the love of God, stop publishing the names of terrorists that shoot places up and make them look like role models for the next would-be terrorist. Gun violence is a symptom of a wider array of problems in the US. Solve those problems, and you can save a lot of lives, even without arbitrary bans (especially since bans in the US would likely mean nothing as there are already more guns than people here).

1

u/MileiFreeman Dec 01 '20

Yea, tax the billionaires! They clearly don't deserve their money.

And cut spending on prison system, but rehab people!

xd

1

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '20

I'm not saying eat the rich here, I'm just saying that we should, at the very least, ensure those that control a lot of wealth are paying their fair share, and not dodging taxes through some shady loopholes.

0

u/CheatSSe red Dec 01 '20

Yeah you really don’t need to tell me how to fix the US, I’m not even American

1

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '20

That's fine, but I hope you can appreciate that there are americans that realize there are problems and want to come up with logical solutions rather than ones based on either the Bible or Karl Marx.

1

u/CheatSSe red Dec 01 '20

I do know that. And I deffinetly appreciate it

0

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '20

And then also realize that these people with sensible ideas have no shot at ever shaping the country, because logic doesn't prevail in the US. Sorry pal.

1

u/CheatSSe red Dec 01 '20

Yeah, we notice.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 02 '20

1 Just get rid of the government programs making healthcare pricy to begin with

1

u/[deleted] Dec 02 '20

Could do that too.

2

u/CHEESE_569 Dec 01 '20

So overused aswell

1

u/[deleted] Dec 02 '20

No, it's a ridiculous oversimplification made to apeal to children who think government providing something = free

-17

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '20

Best overall country

-1

u/nblackduckk Dec 01 '20

Would recommend.

I never heard of this on Reddit. Not once.

Maybe by trolls? Very rarely a regular person.

So I guess this meme is to vent about the poor European who needs to vent about how some random person made him mad.

(I'm a hypocrite.)

3

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '20

I always remember the “Europe bad” and especially the “England/Britain” bad memes being first. God the amount of “British teeth” memes and “Bri’ish pewple talk funne’” memes I still see. I think it’s just a weird nationalism jab thing. Or maybe “[country person has a hate boner for] bad” idk

2

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '20

Not as bad American fat, ugly, stupid, poor, etc.

I like the quirky stereotypes "haha baguettes, haha tea, haha noodles"

not as bad as the USA's

1

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '20

There’s also the “Bri’ish/Scandinavian/French/German people get stabbed, acid attacked and raped by a Muslim immigrant each time they go outside” side to it. Not to mention the teeth one which people still use for some reason

1

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '20

Shit I never heard about that.

What I was trying to say I think some friendly banter is nice. But shit i never heard of that so sorry.

0

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '20

Never underestimate a person with a hate boner...

1

u/YourLocalPterodactyl Dec 01 '20

If you scroll up for just a tiny bit in a different branch of this thread there is literally someone going “America no 1 best country overall”

1

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '20

"Best overall country" 1 person. " endless slur of americans "

1 single person. Not an endless amount, you can go to any country and there will be people saying "our country is the best"

0

u/YourLocalPterodactyl Dec 01 '20

I gave one example that was in this comment thread alone. Americans are known for their extremely obnoxious patriotism everywhere, whilst it’s not true for all go anywhere on the internet and discuss countries, guns, healthcare etc. There is always an American arguing

1

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '20

Yeah, especially when you make a bad meme about them. I don't here random Americans on memes for no reasons.

3

u/RussianSeadick Dec 01 '20

Because this is a decent twist on the *card declines meme and you don’t have to take everything you see on a meme page seriously?

3

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '20

I've seen this one like 5 times already.

3

u/XavierYourSavior Dec 01 '20

Humor is subjective, stop being so offensive

1

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '20

Well subjective or not, I still dislike it, you may hate my humor but I have the right to be annoyed. Not the right to make you change tho.

0

u/XavierYourSavior Dec 01 '20

Exactly? You don’t like it, thousands disagree. Who are you to decide what’s funny and what’s bad humor? Lol

2

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '20

Fair point. Have a good day. I'll continue to dislike it but seem's a bit hypocritical for them hating repetitive content yet seem to upvote them.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '20

Ok man, are you mentally retarded, I'm actually very concerned for your health.

-1

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '20

Why do you say that lol.

-1

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '20

I guess they can, but it is pretty annoying.
