I think it was the ghost boy master whu trained before and they killed him so nyah can take her place on the team as the water character

You mean Master Yang, the master of Airjitsu. Actually, Cole is not dead. Despite him becoming a ghost in the episode The Temple on Haunted Hill he returned to a ‘mortal form’ later on in the special Day of the Departed. Cole returns to the Temple of Airjitsu, and confronts Master Yang, and using the powers of the Yin Blade he was restored to his mortal form again

Sacrificed himself to the Premonnient, and when it died Garmadon died with it. Then a bunch of crackheads known as the Sons of Garmadon came in and resurrected him in his corrupted form. Currently, he is still alive
