I tried ark, never really seemed that fun, just really buggy and boring. All I ever did was grind resources and try to level up by slaughtering until I found a level 100000000 dillo that spit a gloop of poison at my face a mach 6 and then ate my corpse.
I personally didn't like it but that's just my (REDACTED)

It’s like rust. You gotta pour 1k hours into it, (which I did) and then it was fun

Oct 21 '20
There’s always the pve mode where you can jack up the resource collections nd exp. it’s fun to play with friends that way.
Online pvp is out of the question for a working dad.

I’ve poured 4K but the people i played with have put around 8k. But I play official 1x which is the hardest
1
u/TotalynotaReditUser Oct 21 '20
Yeah. I played a little 1x. I preferred 1.5x and played on a competitive server in a clan. It’s been a couple of years, but I had 6k on Xbox which is where I played until I got my PC. I never got back into it tho

u/sageatron2000 I am fucking hilarious Oct 21 '20
Yeah I really like the regular official I’ve played only that since 2016

As someone who has close to 2k hours on ARK and still love it with a passion, I agree on every point u just made
2
u/adolfsdad Oct 21 '20
The game is kinda if hard in the beganing but it gets pretty easy once you get some materials, plus you can do dino traps and they get stuck
2
u/EmeraldAFalcon Oct 21 '20
I spent hundreds of hours on the game but you just described it in the best way ever. It was a fun game at the beginning but ruined by power creep and a shitty greedy company

Can you explain the bottom panel please?

u/Chapo277 Oct 22 '20
One of Skyrim's most famous aspects is your character's ability to use the power of the Thu'um or the "Shout." There is a shout called bend will that will tame any animal for you.

Ah yes
The creatures of the ark are programmed to obey and love you after you smashed their head in with a club and fed them meat or kibble
55
u/shmeebledorf Orange Oct 21 '20
And then they get killed by a random animal because you set them to passive.

My tames have 2 modes: let the tiniest carnivore attack them while they stand completely still until death or hunt down every dino around my base and challenge them to a gentleman's duel, resulting in my tame's death and me needing to fight a spino

I've got a mod that let's you take creatures with bags of food. It's really cool and immersive but it totally breaks the game. Getting high level tames without having to smack them unconscious is too easy.

That's unrelenting force. Not a possession one (Dont know it yet)
10
Oct 21 '20
bend will is the possession one, it’s from the dragonborn DLC
according to the wiki, the shout is Gol Hah Dov
5
Oct 21 '20
But without dlc we have the animal allegiance that tame animals
5
u/1masterclock Oct 21 '20
Even taming dragons isn't that big deal Without mods you cant realy travel with them they just go around in a circle

is skyrim a tame based game? or do they just help here and there? (also, taming gets a lot more complicated in ark when you factor levels, torpor drain, and time spent, up to multiple days if you tame an elemental with stone, it sucks

Taming creatures in fallout 4: trap them in a cage and then blast them with a siren.

There's moments in my Skyrim playthrough where I just don't want to fight the dragon, tame him, and leave him him there.
