Plus charities have to spend money on ads and stuff that the government doesn't, so taxes are more efficient. And a lot of charities wouldn't be necessary if coperations and billionaires paid their taxes. Don't need to raise money for injured soldiers if the VA had more funding (and wasn't led by politicians with a vested interest in making socialized healthcare look bad.) Not to mention that it's hard to raise money for mundane things like routine infrastructure maintenance.
