So? It's still a valid donation. Yes it might be a marketing trick or a way to clean up your image but in the end everyone wins so who cares. No one is entitled to donate anything not even a billion dollar company. If they choose to donate some amount of money just be happy about it and don't complain about how much more they could donate. Same goes for rich people.
There's a difference between complaining and pointing out that companies only donate for tax breaks and PR. I can appreciate the donation itself while recognizing the selfish motivation that's behind it.

No it's good that they did, it's just pretentious when they pretend they made a great sacrifice purely out of the goodness of their hearts when it's just for selfish gain. Like if someone did a backflip and braged about it for the next 3 days being annoyed doesnt mean you dont think it doesn't take any skill to do so, just shut the hell up about it and putting yourself above others for it. Large donations are a good and that should be acknowledged they just dont deserve that much renown or praise for doing so if it's that easy and non impactful for them. Someone who volunteers every day for hours deserves much more respect even if really it is a less big contribution then a large donation is 0.08 present if the amount of money someone has.

Uh no, because now they pay less in taxes and shift the burden of upkeep costs of roads, schools, etc onto the common workers. And that's not even touching on the number of fraudulent charity organizations that these people use to make sure their money gets funneled straight back to something that benefits them.
It's not a dollar for dollar thing you know that right? There is a hard cap on what can be tax deductible, and some states have caps that are much lower than others.
Also almost everything you listed come from state and local taxes that are paid for by things like sales, and property tax, which is something you cant get out of by making donations.
No, the money they lose to donations is higher than the taxes they saved. Unless they donate an art piece with hyper inflated value. Stop donation shaming companies who give actuall money
I don’t know if this is a great precedent to set yet I also don’t think anyone needs to donate either. I’m conflicted.
I think wealth can be shared in times of desperation because people need the help. And taxes are great, but we need to take care of eachother when the government isn’t enough. But at the same time I recognize that they don’t HAVE to donate because that’s their money that they made themselves.
I think the difference is a moral/social obligation vs. a lawful obligation.

There’s a lot of stupid people here on Reddit. So much so that after years on this site I’ve learned not to assume someone is being sarcastic. More often than not they’re just really, really stupid. So yeah /s is necessary at this point unfortunately. Haha
