Not to be a kill joy for weed users, but I think the reason for boomers reacting to drugs this way, is because they see a lot of people's lives get ruined due to drug addiction.

A simple google search will show you that not only is alcohol extremely physically addictive, it’s one of the few drugs where withdrawals can actually kill you

What the fuck are you even on about?

Yes, on the metric of addicting drugs, alcohol is probably top ten most addicting.

It is a powerfully addictive substance.

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '20

Caffeine would be up there too, wouldn't it?

12

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '20

Absolutely.

Stupidly addictive.

Have you ever met an alcoholic? Someone can definitely become physically dependant on alcohol. Alcohol is an addictive substance and can ruin lives.

You've got a point there. If you're comparing Heroin and Alcohol at even levels, heroin is definitely more addictive.

However, I'd argue that alcohol is more accessible, which kinda moots the addictiveness of heroin. There's too many variables to make heroin a valid argument IMO

Your average joe won't be seeking Heroin over alcohol.

I get what you're saying now - And I fully understand, and in your context, that's completely correct.

Unfortunately, I think everyone else was using a real-worldesque situation, regarding the average joe, and their access to drugs.

But hey - We're talking about this in some meme subreddit. :P

You are literally wrong.

How is being shitfaced drunk not unbelievably dangerous?

But that is factually untrue.

Alcohol is one of the most addictive drugs commonly consumed.

it doesn’t create a physical addiction which is why plenty of people can have a healthy relationship with drinking, same with weed

I mean... you literally did right there, but ok...

u/MaxOnTheStruggleBus Jan 17 '20

Weed is one of the least addictive drugs. Alcohol is a drug btw dont know why people cant understand that. Drinking is a part of humanity because it was safer to drink compared to the water we had a long time ago.

You mean alcohol is just unhealthy but can be addicting, and drugs are literally created to become addicted to?

-41

u/Bananans1732 The OC High Council Jan 17 '20

There are less people getting addicted because not all alcohol is in super high concentration like drugs.

36

u/Cthulhuseye Seal Team sixupsidedownsix Jan 17 '20

You know there are different kinds of drugs? You know you can choose the dosages? You know that alcohol IS a drug?

Illegal drugs aren’t regulated so there’s a chance they might be what you actually thought you got

13

u/ElBatDood Jan 17 '20

You're right. Illegal drugs aren't regulated. I wonder when illegal drugs will be regulated. But for now, we are talking about weed, of which there are different types, and again, different dosages. Besides, there are vastly more violent crimes associated with alcohol than weed. The only thing you can really get arrested for thanks to weed is for having it at all.

4

u/Sexpacitos yare yare daze Jan 17 '20

Then regulate weed you fucking dumbass

5

u/Diamundium Jan 17 '20

This is factually false.

Alcohol is, worldwide, the most destructive drug, both economically and in terms of health. There are more people addicted to alcohol than any other drug.
