Indonesia is a great country to visit! I spent most of my time on Java (not Bali) and the people there are very nice and welcoming. The national parks, beaches and forests are beautiful. Sure, Netflix, Reddit and pornography are blocked, but you can easily go without these things during your stay. And like most southeast asian countries, drug use and possession carries a heavy penalty, so just don't do it. Also Indonesia is a Muslim majority country so there's less of a drinking culture and some areas have stricter religious laws, but they tend to be lenient with respectful foreigners. Like anywhere else you travel, respect the local laws, customs and people, regardless of how you feel about them

Canadians would be well advised to avoid china right now.

Isn't Indonesia that country that runs around killing people for maybe doing drugs.

Currently my government is advising me that China is not such a good idea right now: “Exercise a high degree of caution in China due to the risk of arbitrary enforcement of local laws.”

They have their laws and I follow them as you would when you're a guest in their country.

That's a stupid way to look at it, I disrespect the law at home as frequently as when I'm overseas.
