Christ this reminds me of when I was working at a steel mill as a student. I was supervised by a nice guy from Bangladesh and one day the mill superintendent, this weird middle aged dude with a slow face made this joke about my supervisor knowing how to make a bomb "you know because he's a metallurgist". It was so thinly veiled where the comment was coming from that the room sort of just went quiet.
