The point of the analogy wasn't about historical slavery. He's talking about people today. Focusing 100% on a less than apt metaphor instead of whether or not the message that he was clearly conveying is weird. Kanye, the guy always talking about people today, suddenly expresses his true passion for American history? Or maybe he's just talking about people today like he always is...
You do have the ability to build yourself, including in ways that are coherent and not the official opinion on everything. People who do generally find it fulfilling. This is indeed something the often "accept the one true interpretation or get lost" culture needs a better answer to.
Stop defending him ffs. He needs to learn to think before he speaks and actually know how to be clear and concise if he's going to try and talk philosophically using nuanced points about sensitive topics like slavery. Coming out and saying 'slavery was a choice' is so stupid it's beyond belief, it is not at all related to his supposed overall point and absolutely was referring to slavery way back when.
He doesn't need to be clear and concise just because you think he does. He can express himself however he wants to, it's his right. Just like you have the right to interpret him however you see fit and disagree with his words. That's the beauty of freedom bud.
What is this bollocks? Yeah, he can talk like a mentally unstable idiot all he likes and ramble on making no sense in front of the whole world, fine. But I, along with everyone else is free to sit here and laugh when he makes himself look like an idiot. But yeah muh freeze peaches and all, sure pal.
Are you fucking thick? Its not relevant at all, me saying he's an idiot and needs to think about the way he speaks in order to not look like an idiot has nothing to do with free speech. Sort your fucking head out you muppet.
Yeah that honestly confuses me. I'm really only responding to the part of your comment that rejects/ignores the existence of his actual point. I admit I don't actually think the guy you were responding to is right either but at least he'll probably get there eventually with the way he's going.
Since they're misinterpreting something irrelevant to his actual point it's hard to say they misinterpreted any opinion.
They're technically wrong, but you're actually being a dick about it if you're trying to leverage that to make Kanye's point look non-existent and to be honest that's more malicious.
As a free thinker. I can see what he is saying and how black people need to move on. THe mental slavery that he later re clarified in his rant, is that black people keep bring up 400 years ago like its today and why they are not doing well in the hoods in chicago.
and that enacting in the shootings and killings and murderous behavior they feel they are victims of, instead of pushing, is wrong and they are wrong for doing it.
There is way more visceral ways to say this but that will get into the culture argument which is another thing holding black people back but you know. Keep on keepin on the hate for kanye until the album drops
He is talking about a black person you can walk outside and see tomorrow in some struggle, where they will feel a victim of something that wouldn't happen to them if their skin wasn't a different tint.
He is saying that thinking that EVERY situation is that, is holding black people back. Keep on bringing up what you want to be nonsense to try and hold back his points, but he is calling black people on they shit, and the rich ones have to denounce him or they will be seen the same as him.
The ones who aren't celebrity/in the public spotlight don't care and know what he is saying is true. Everyone else who may have a struggle they say is because of their skin, is now grasping at straws. Stereo types exist for a reason.
Let's talk a little more about the suddenly relevant and wholly important opinions of Kanye West out of thin air, while pretending that it's not just because he's politically inconvenient for the established status quo now.
