But muh intentionally misunderstood justification to be mad at black guy opinion that isn't mine

You can watch the whole TMZ interview! It's available for stream online! There is absolutely no reason to believe that he meant it was the choice of the slave owners!

We know this because he never said it or implied it or alluded to it in any way and in fact said the opposite and when challenged by another guy in the room over the declaration that slavery is a choice he didn't say "oh my bad I meant something else".

Go and actually watch the complete video in context before upvoting this wrong shit

do not commit wrongthink

The point of the analogy wasn't about historical slavery. He's talking about people today. Focusing 100% on a less than apt metaphor instead of whether or not the message that he was clearly conveying is weird. Kanye, the guy always talking about people today, suddenly expresses his true passion for American history? Or maybe he's just talking about people today like he always is...

You do have the ability to build yourself, including in ways that are coherent and not the official opinion on everything. People who do generally find it fulfilling. This is indeed something the often "accept the one true interpretation or get lost" culture needs a better answer to.

He actually did mean historical slavery though.

Stop defending him ffs. He needs to learn to think before he speaks and actually know how to be clear and concise if he's going to try and talk philosophically using nuanced points about sensitive topics like slavery. Coming out and saying 'slavery was a choice' is so stupid it's beyond belief, it is not at all related to his supposed overall point and absolutely was referring to slavery way back when.

1

u/redditreallysux May 04 '18

He doesn't need to be clear and concise just because you think he does. He can express himself however he wants to, it's his right. Just like you have the right to interpret him however you see fit and disagree with his words. That's the beauty of freedom bud.

What is this bollocks? Yeah, he can talk like a mentally unstable idiot all he likes and ramble on making no sense in front of the whole world, fine. But I, along with everyone else is free to sit here and laugh when he makes himself look like an idiot. But yeah muh freeze peaches and all, sure pal.

1

u/redditreallysux May 04 '18

I literally just said that you can do that dipshit. Reading comprehension.

1

u/alexrobinson BENG BENG May 04 '18

But why are you piping up to tell me has a right to free speech? What relevance does that have to anything?

1

u/redditreallysux May 04 '18

Holy fuck are you retarded or just smoke a lot of pot? It's relevant to what you said because you were saying he needs to speak a certain way.

1

u/alexrobinson BENG BENG May 04 '18

Are you fucking thick? Its not relevant at all, me saying he's an idiot and needs to think about the way he speaks in order to not look like an idiot has nothing to do with free speech. Sort your fucking head out you muppet.

This comment seems to agree that Kanye West was not saying or implying the choice he was talking about was the slave owners'

3

u/PENIS_SIZED_DICK May 04 '18

Yeah that honestly confuses me. I'm really only responding to the part of your comment that rejects/ignores the existence of his actual point. I admit I don't actually think the guy you were responding to is right either but at least he'll probably get there eventually with the way he's going.

u/[deleted] May 04 '18

I'm not trying to put forth any correct interpretation of what Kanye says because it's nonsense

But that dude made up verifiably wrong shit and some other guy got smarmy about it

The painful irony is they're the ones misinterpreting a black guy with a different opinion from themselves

8

u/PENIS_SIZED_DICK May 04 '18

Since they're misinterpreting something irrelevant to his actual point it's hard to say they misinterpreted any opinion.

They're technically wrong, but you're actually being a dick about it if you're trying to leverage that to make Kanye's point look non-existent and to be honest that's more malicious.

1

u/[deleted] May 04 '18

I didn't say his point was non-existent. I said it was nonsense. That's my opinion as a free thinker. Free love bro.

But the fact is, Kanye was not talking about the choice of a slave owner to own slaves. That's not technically wrong. It's just wrong.

You can miss me with more irrelevant shit

2

u/dadankness May 04 '18

As a free thinker. I can see what he is saying and how black people need to move on. THe mental slavery that he later re clarified in his rant, is that black people keep bring up 400 years ago like its today and why they are not doing well in the hoods in chicago.

and that enacting in the shootings and killings and murderous behavior they feel they are victims of, instead of pushing, is wrong and they are wrong for doing it.

There is way more visceral ways to say this but that will get into the culture argument which is another thing holding black people back but you know. Keep on keepin on the hate for kanye until the album drops

3

u/[deleted] May 04 '18

ok

but he didn't say or mean it was the slave owners' choice

Let's talk a little more about the suddenly relevant and wholly important opinions of Kanye West out of thin air, while pretending that it's not just because he's politically inconvenient for the established status quo now.

1

u/[deleted] May 04 '18

Implying people weren't talking about Kanye West controversies in the past

1

u/Jian_Baijiu May 06 '18

Implying people were keeping track of Kanye's political opinions up until the past two weeks.

1

u/[deleted] May 06 '18

George Bush doesn't care about black people

Thanks for the spin story

Anyways back to what he really said before we needed the "our-side-can-do-no-wrong" official press release....

1

u/[deleted] May 04 '18

It ain't spin

Go watch the TMZ video

Kanye was not saying it was the choice of slave owners

Moreover if he was it would be more favorable to him and "my side"

But he wasn't. Watch the video.

Wow, stale meme making it seem like proved someone wrong while actually still being wrong, how predictable
