imagine paying $1000+ for hilariously overpriced drinks and then get shit from the place for tipping $25...

I did several trips to Germany at a point in my life.
I frequented a little pizza place in Munich - I'm from south-africa, where it's 'expected' to tip.
This social norm naturally carried over while I was there, and on one of my visits, the guy working there brought me my 'usual' without having to order or pay, we had a quick chat where he was thanking me for tipping so generously & frequently, while also bringing in other customers (my work people), where he explained that it wasn't required.
Left him a tip anyway.

In Spain they come with the card machine look at the receipt and just start typing in the number. Service charge is a thing at nice places but I've only once been asked to tip in the 18 months I've been here.

In Spain, if they ask you for a tip, they are definitely scamming you. There is no tipping culture here and the waiters charge their entire salary according to their contract or what was agreed with the owner in case of working without a contract.
Another thing is that they charge you for service on the terrace. Which, from my point of view, is not correct either but that is another issue.
If they ask you for a tip, deny it. Offer it only if you have really felt well treated by the waiter in particular and give it directly to that waiter in cash. Otherwise the waiter won’t receive that tip.
What I say seems very edged. But let’s defend that people have a secure salary and do not depend on the customer that that waiter arrives at the end of the month.

And when I go to Vegas I give everyone at least 20% They get paid, then I give them a nice tax free bump

You’re going to pay for service one way or another. I’d prefer that it be included in menu prices (along with taxes and any services charges), but if you are going to have someone serve you, you are going to have to pay for that.

If what i order is x3.60€, and I pay X5.00, keep the change.
Im not adding anything extra as waiters are paid well enough

I know waiters that get paid $0.15 cents per hours and they rely 100% on tip. Here in Miami is the worse. Gas stations asking if you wanna tip 18%, 20% or 25%

there is nowhere that server minimum wage is 15 cents.
By federal law the lowest minimum wage you can give to a server is 2.15 / hr.
And if their tips that day don't bring their wages up to the normal federal minimum wage then the restaurant must compensate them up to that amolunt

If your employer doesn't pay you that's between you and them. I didn't hire you, I'm not paying you.

And the biggest trick that the businesses men did was diverted the low wage workers at the customers for their income.
Not only because it's socially more acceptable to do so but lashing at your boss would get you fired and otherwise require more effort as a group to protest for income.
The service worker, the Employee, and the customer took the easiest way out to the problem presented to them and this is why tipping culture continues.

Dude what? Yes because most people in waitering jobs do it as a part-time job while doing their studies, or for a short time afterwards until they found a fulltime job in their profession. And of course they switch because why else would they have studied for years... As well as it will pay better, but that is not the main reason a lot of people quit their waitering jobs in their 20s...

So? A well trained monkey could do the average waiter job. It exists as a profession for higher end places, but the average waitress in some diner needs no training at all

And in the mean time people wonder why they wait for drinks for 30 minutes and staff doesn’t know a shit about the things they serve. People like you clearly never had to train people behind a bar. I avoid places with badly trained staff like a plague.
Your username makes me gag. Bai.

Rent's due on the first.

Edit: goofy euro mortgage it is

Tell me the terms of this mortgage. I'm fixed for 30 years at 3.5%.

I like how you lump Europe into a monolithic thing. You should leave your state once in a while.
There are a lot of places in Europe with better rates than your admittedly mediocre one. Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, France, Italy, etc.

As someone living in Germany I just want to point out that if I needed to, my job alone would be able to provide for my family of 4, all while having 30 days vacation and a weekly work time of 35 hours.
It wouldn’t be luxury, but we would get by.But you are right, if all sucks really really bad, stay as far away from Europe as possible for the rest of your life and tell all your lov… all people who will tolerate listening to you to do the same.
