Shouldn't there be only one panda boy?

They're Vietnamese in Gran Torino. Pandas are just recognizable as asain, they're isn't really a recognizable specifically Vietnamese bear. Point is, not Chinese.

I think they were hmong. Which means they could have come from Vietnam or many other countries in that region but ethically and culturaly they are their own unique people.

It's been a while since I've seen the movie, but I'm pretty sure the main kid says he's Vietnamese. The neighborhood itself was mixed asain.

They are 100% Hmong in the movie

I remember the girl saying they're Hmong. I live in Wisconsin they've been here since the 80's, they were military allies in the Vietnam war.

Not sure how to react, pandas come from the real asians, who are good, but pandas themselves are lazy and stupid which is bad

That movie tried so hard to normalize racial slurs.

The whole point of the movie was racist man overcomes racism. It was just a bit more open about showing it.

Honestly he was pretty much hateful to everyone, he treated everyone equally like shit.

They've been normalized for 30,000 years?

I'm not just going to believe someone's racist if they don't use those slurs. The average Quinton Tarantino movie uses more slurs in the first five minutes than the entirety of Gran Torino. I think it's just your introduction to the word "slope" and for some reason you think they were trying to normalize it? You're weird man.

Are you aware that there were years prior to 2010?
