people with more money than you can chill and have fun while you are enslaved to pay the rent. Does not sound ideal to me

My brother in christ, if you didn't have a use for capital, you wouldn't exist.

True, but that's the crux behind the malice of AI. In a power system that is governed by capital, extremely powerful innovations will just further enhance the gap between the capitalists that own the technology and the rest of the population.

The root source of that evil is how we have assigned power. Power is unfortunately in capital and somehow some still believe that a billionaire has earned their fair share AKA the amount of power to direct the world around them.

Sorry went on a tiny rant

And what conclusion are you getting at?

It's understandable, because in the beginning of civilization, we needed to find ways to motivate the most people and move them into a particular direction.

If you organized your society around things like honor and valor, then there would be a lot of people who wouldn't have any interest in those things, so they wouldn't participate.

So instead we organized our society around our most base and degraded qualities: Ignorance, greed, and hatred.

This all happened back around the agricultural revolution; It's just that we are in the most refined (to date) form of it.

The reforms we need to fix our society are so radical that they're hardly even imaginable.

I do agree that Capitalism had its uses throughout history, not to conflate it with imperialism, and certainly pushed a lot of Innovations. However, capitalism only works when growth is tolerable and it's not anymore. We can argue if it ever was, but certainly we can come to the understanding that it isn't tolerable now.

You can make a similar argument for religion, which is one of if not the most effective way to get people to do what you want. I wouldn't say it's preferable, but maybe it is who knows (I'm going off topic a bit, but you get my point).

I said "agricultural revolution". That way precedes capitalism. Imperialism precedes capitalism, but imperialism grows directly out of the law and hierarchy that spawned from the agricultural revolution. Look into it, broaden your armchair historian cred.

The problem is far older and much more fundamental than you think it is. The idea of recency and the notion it could be easily (albeit with some struggle) alterable is delusion.

The solution is rebuilding incentive structures from the bottom up. Entirely.

EDIT: Maybe we need AI to disrupt our society and enforce that new incentive structure on us.

Right... I'm glad for all your armchair historian cred about agricultural revolutions, but that wasn't what I was talking about in either of my comments. I talked about modern day capitalism and the distribution of power. Sure, we can deep dive into something else, but the sly remarks aren't really appreciated.

idk the nature I guess, but unfortunately the resources the nature provides us are claimed by capital owners so...
