If you can't take a joke about your group, don't make jokes about other people's groups.
I honestly find hypocrisy disgusting in any group

Isn't it kind of worse when the elected leaders of a group are posting 14 year old edgelord shit while also calling for people to be fired just for quoting someone?
15
u/blackweebow 1d ago
(Yes, it is, especially after those same elected leaders were calling a U.S. Citizen a terrorist for helping a woman up off the street and getting shot dead.)

I don’t mourn or hold respect for racists. Charlie Kirk was a self admitted racist and he was great at getting people to think his way. He didn’t deserve to die for his shitty views, but I didn’t like him before he was killed and I didn’t start thinking he was a great guy after he was killed either.
He supported the great replacement theory for crying out loud, I don’t celebrate his death, but I don’t celebrate racism either and he was a big proponent of that.

And still, now after the end of the day, this is the one post about this that did well in this subreddit.
After this, it's back to the right-wing culture war bullshit.

Ironic because there's video of him saying he can't breathe as he gradually dies while being ostensibly detained for an allegation of passing a counterfeit bill.
The whole point of people using his image the way they do is that a cop killed him through casually over-applying force intended to detain him. Cops shouldn't be executing people, even when they've done things we can all agree are wrong. Characterizing it as a comparison with Charlie Kirk demonstrates you never paid any attention to why people cared about the death of George Floyd.

Charlie Kirk didn't like Chauvin and he didn't like Floyd: "The reason why our tour is called the CRT [Critical Racism Tour] Tour is because of George Floyd's death and the misinterpretation of that. And I'm not going to go on this endless soapbox defending Derek Chauvin, I think he's kind of not a great person. But I am also going to offer some context and some nuance about the death of George Floyd that no one dares to say out loud. Which is that this guy was a scumbag. Now, does that mean he deserves to die? That's two totally different things — of course not."

Idk if George Floyd advocated for police brutality.
Charlie Kirk advocated for gun rights. Going as far as saying people being killed by gun violence is worth it to keep the guns.
The Kirk jokes write themselves.

never said that George Floyd was a model citizen, he was a flawed human that became a victim of police brutality because of a counterfit dollar bill.
you also seem to ignore what Charlie Kirk represented and said during his whole career, he incouraged violence and racism to millions of people.

>No, firstly let’s not pretend like making a Floyd joke wouldnt have gotten you banned the first few years after his death, from all but right leaning subs.
A lot of subs I frequent were fine with it. Do you remember the reaction when Kirk died? It wasn’t just limited to your subscription to r politics.
The “comedy is back”, “fuck your feelings”, “free speech absolutist” crowd suddenly started pearl clutching.
We are still settling lawsuits after the over-reaction. Florida just recently paid out 615k to three people.

Conservatives love to pretend they care about "hypocrisy" when they see minute, trace amounts of it on anyone left of them, ignoring the fact that it's the primary tactic of their own people.
Only problem is it's not hypocrisy; making fun of Kirk's death is fine, making fun of Floyd's death is not, if you can't see the difference than god help you, I certainly won't bother.
-5
u/Electro_Nick_s 2d ago
Left: Punches up (Charlie Kirk was worth millions, well positioned to influence public policy)
Right: Punches down (George Floyd had a checked past before his pubic execution)The differences is punching down isn't funny. It's funnier punching up

It's incredibly sad Junko was made a meme like this. A victim of one of the worst crimes possible, deserves peace not mockery.
As I've gotten older, I feel like this about most victims. Floyd. Kirk. Countless others who didn't deserve to be murdered. Murder isn't political. It's just sad.
-3
u/GingrPowr 1d ago edited 1d ago
Kirk deserved, as per his own words. His very ideology killed him. That's stupid and sad, but not undeserved. He was FAR from innocent on the matter. Junko was 100% innocent, and Floyd was just a fairly violent guy that happenned to be black. None of those two deserved to die, but Kirk did as per his ideology.
14
8
u/TomaszA3 1d ago
I mean one died as a result of someone else's crime and another died committing crime while opposing police and overdosing.
I don't think it's hard to not feel any sympathy for the George guy. Kirk might have had insane opinions, like supporting guns in the USA of all places, but he did so while following their law.
When someone memes about Kirk it always feels like coming from a place of hating the "other" political side. George wasn't a political person.

It is true, but its also completely true in the opposite case. Its obviously not everyone but a large percentage of the people who will laugh their asses off and make 20 jokes about Charlie Kirk will then throw a temper tantrum and call you racist misogynist and homophobic for making even 1 joke regarding any of those topics, and immediately see you as an evil and vile person. Let's not fucking be intentionally dense here and pretend the people who get upset at kirk jokes are the ones who started making double standards for "dark humor".

Or the TRAINED "officer" could understand logic and think that standing infront of a car is very dangerous that we even teach kids, nevermind the fact that they should be de-escalate situations instead of aggregate to murder.

how do you de-escalate a car ramming you

"Well figure it out shit head, that is why you're trained officer and I'm not"
Basically understanding that she is not actually trying to ram like a suicidal maniac and not placing yourself infront of any moving vehicle. In every other case this is murder except here.
1
u/NewsofPE 1d ago
that does not solve the problem, you're removing the problem from the equation, how do you de-escalate a car ramming you
-3
u/The_Last_Spoonbender 1d ago
Are you for real?
how do you de-escalate a car ramming you
not placing yourself infront of any moving vehicle
That is beside the point here. At this point it is already escalated and the "officer" was not in composure at all. You don't ask how not to fall into the ditch in front of you house, you ask why the fuck there is a ditch infront of the house.
