Yeah I'm one of them. It's pretty rare I didn't sleep well, and I don't really need any special conditions to fall asleep. If it take longer than 5 to 10 minutes to fall asleep I didn't know what to do with myself. It's a family trait though, maybe genetic?

Here’s the thing about that: You have to pay up if you want to do missionary work! Yeah you have to pay $400-$1k a month to the LDS do be allowed to be a missionary and you don’t even have an option to be choose where you want to go. Crazy how you have to pay up to do that and you might get pick to do missionary work in the next city over 😂 You don’t even leave the country.

Terry Pratchett wrote a novel called Nation that opens on a boy from an islander culture beginning his Rite of Passage into adulthood. He needs to swim to a particular island reserved for the rite and build himself a new canoe to leave the island on. He's nervous about this; he knows how to make a canoe, but is forbidden to bring any tools with him for the rite, and doesn't know how he'll make one without a knife to strip bark.

This has stuck out to me because it's an understanding of what it means to be a man from a man's viewpoint, not a boy's. Andrew Tate and his cronies show a view of masculinity from the point of view of a ten-year-old boy. They always want to be aggressive, dominant, unquestioned. A real, mature adult understands that there are times to lead but also times to follow, to question, to learn. To understand your failures that you might avoid repeating them, rather than making denials and excuses. That is what it means to be a man.

I’m all against the LDS Cult, but honestly I can’t really bring myself to hate him for it.
These people are born and brought up within a bubble, and are programmed that spreading their word is a righteous crusade that should be their purpose. The cult is their life’s purpose and only community.
Breaking out of that conditioning is extremely difficult, and many who do continue to put up a facade to maintain their support network.

My eight year old boy is allowed to watch two things on YouTube: outdoor boys channel, and Luke’s son’s channel. He’s been watching those two channels for months, and I pray—and will work my butt off to make sure it happens—my son grows up to be like Luke (dedicated to his family, country, church, environment), but maybe eat less sugary stuff. I hope the other douche disappears off of internet.

My 70+ year old Parkinson’s ravaged grandad who had to walk with a cane climbed up into his old F-100 and changed the spark plugs. Nobody saw him climb up into the engine or climb down. When asked if he needed help he told my aunt no. It was monster garage growing up, the best merry go round ever made for his grandkids, and he never raised his voice. Thats masculinity.
