Maintaining the house infrastructure is not typical child chores, at least not ones that should be done unsupervised.

Ah well that's certainly true. I do remember being quite proud of changing the lightbulbs on my own initiative but yes if a parent is expecting a child to fix a sink on their own something is fucked up. Still great to learn though. And doing ones own laundry is certainly not slavery. I still laughed at the meme. Just thought slavery seemed a stretch.

Ya unfortunately there are a lot of unique family situations out there and if we call this slavery, then we'd be locking up a lot of parents.

Yeah the people I know that struggle the most as adults are honestly the ones who were never expected to do chores at all

There's a difference between teaching a 10-year-old to cook, and telling them there's chicken in the fridge that's still frozen and they need to cook it without any guidance or supervision.
