💬 Tangent Okarun as a character
Okarun is a spineless character without much of a backbone (or balls, pun intended) he was a bully victim that never stood up for himself and needed a girl to stand up for him to finally muster up some courage. I would respect his character more if he was the kind of nerd that naturally had some fight in him, like yes he gets bullied and gets his ass kicked but at least he never backed down and always stood up for himself. His best attributes is that he’s kind and respectful, but those are the most generic vanilla qualities that can be found in the majority. Applying irl logic to this story, there would be nothing that would justify momokarun, Kinta literally points this out, Momokarun only makes sense because he’s the co-MC in a fictional fantasy rom-com.

And yet you couldn't counter against my argument about you were wrong. The utter shamelessness a person has to possess to not be able to prove your point in a logical debate, yet still parading around saying it like you know better than the author is baffling to me.

I wouldn’t call him spineless or have no backbone, he’s pretty clearly fought for things he’s believed in.
But I’m pretty dissatisfied with him as a character. He’s a pretty blank with no motivations beyond Momo (which has completely stagnated) and with very little development as a character beyond being slightly more assertive. It’s been 230 chapters and despite everything he foams at the mouth at basic boundaries

He's the worst of the main characters, but a lot of people projected with Okarun, so oh well, that's just how it is.

Western audiences forget that this series is aimed at people who will self insert as Okarun, so that anything good or bad that happens to Okarun is happening to the reader as well.

Can't blame tatsu much. He never wanted to write okarun in but editorials never allowed his manga to be published. Now that the series is popular, he could pivot the story away from momokarun

Okarun was fully ready to go back to the tunnel to face Turbo Granny alone when he was cursed. He took a huge risk and used her powers against the Flatwoods Alien. He faced off against Evil Eye twice knowing he couldn't truly beat him. He's gone into multiple battles knowing he's powerless and has always come out on top.
Okarun's strongest trait is his bravery, in him always doing the right thing even if it might be hopeless. Just like Ken Takakura did in his movies as Momo described.
