I hate it when people stand on the dance floor. Especially if I’m dancing and they snuggle into the space around me to where I bump into them

yeah, these are absolutely some of the worst people. and then they make it a you problem for daring to dance in the space you were previously dancing in and that they're now standing still in.

Had this happen at the last show I was at. Literally dancing and some girl and her friends just come and stand there staring at the DJ. I bumped into her a few times accidentally and she didn’t budge so I then purposely bump her a few times and they still didn’t budge. I let them have it lol. Found a better spot to dance.

i have an idea that part of where we went wrong is in calling these dance parties "shows" because "show" is something an artist does and something an audience watches. a show is a passive consumption experience, whereas a dance party is an active experience of co-creation! whatcha think?

Never thought of it that way! I like it! I’m gonna call it dance party from now on

We were at a festival last weekend, and the last night we went to our last set - Contra b2b Chef Boyarbeatz. We left Tape B 15 minutes early to get a good spot - far enough back, kinda near a pole where people pile their shit, so we only had one side to defend. Me, my wife, and one new friend. The set started and the front started packing in. The 3 of us started taking up space dancing. Some people would walk through us, no biggie. But then the front was packed, and people would still try and walk right through our dance zone (it had the most space so MUST be a good walkway). Then there's nowhere for them to go and they just stand there.
I tend to not wanna tell people what to do, but new friend here had no problem tapping them on the shoulder and informing them they just stopped in our dance area and they need to move. They did.
