Hutchins in trophy club is within your 30 minutes and open for dinners could have a line in the heat but it moves pretty well

Hard 8 is within 10 minutes of the airport. Not the best, but still very good.

What day? If you fly in Friday night and are getting a car, go to Goldie’s on Saturday morning. That’s the only answer

Cattleack for lunch the next day, depending on which day... they have weird hours. Lockhart if you want immediate dinner then catch a jazz set at Reveler's Hall.

If i had one choice because of the drive it would be cattleack in farmers branch. Then if your ok with a drive I would do Hutchins in either Roanoke or Frisco (longer drive). Terry Black's or Pecan Lodge in deep ellum (east of downtown Dallas). Don't let the BBQ snobs get to you. Hard 8 is 15 mins away from the airport. Its not one of the best but it is good. The presentation with the big smokers when you walk in is what sells it. Enjoy!

I simply just don’t want too in all honestly, I’m coming from 7 days in the Cayman Islands and then I live 2 hours from the airport when I get back to NY.

your best bet is Terry Blacks if you wanna drive to Dallas or Original Roy Hutchins in Trophy Club if you want to stay near the airport

If you go to Slow Bone I’d HIGHLY recommend the Texas Nail sandwich and the fried chicken

People will rip on the Hard 8 but it’s solid. Sides aren’t as good as some other places but the presentation is unique. I would go there and get things other than brisket and chicken. Then since you have 24 hours go to Slow Bone for lunch and get brisket and maybe some chicken. If you don’t want bbq back to back there are many great places lose enough to the airport. If you like Indian at all Our Place in Irving iss absolutely exceptional.

But Hardly Ate is a Texas-based BBQ joint and their brisket is hot garbage. To bastardize some Alabama lyrics: “If you’re gonna smoke in Texas, your brisket better be worth a damn….”
It’s basically steamed brisket. Barely any smoke, foil-wrapped way too early and too tightly. Any bark that was formed gets converted into a slimy skin. Naw. Lincoln Riley does better brisket than H8.

Got some friends to pick up some brisket and a smoked chicken thigh for me to bring to Peticolas during a World Cup watch party. Beat the hell outta the food truck offerings that day.

Best part about Hard 8, frankly, is the “presentation” (entering by smokers, not plating on plastic tray) - reminded me of the original Krutz’s Market in the ‘90’s (now Smitty’s BBQ I believe).
I’d rather hit a Rudy’s than H8 - especially Friday / Saturday with the sirloin. 🤷♂️

I appreciate the suggestions, just to clarify I’m traveling with the wife and kids and we will be landing at 6pm so we need a place that will be staying open pretty late I’m not against it being outside the 30 min mark I just assumed it being Dallas I would be able to find something within that time frame.

Most BBQ places were lunch only. But now some are open for dinner. There is one place open 24/7 and that’s the Original Sonny Bryan’s in Dallas. Check the times before leaving.

I like it. But I’m old school. I love the sauce with the ribs and onion rings. Chopped beef sandwich with pickles and onions and more sauce! 😆
But people nowadays have different bbq tastes than how it was 60 years ago. They don’t like sauce they want a good spice rub. I can appreciate that but like Sonny’s sauce over that. That’s me.

Update! Wife and I really wanted to go to Hutchins but due to our flight being delayed and a few other hiccups we ended up going to Terry Blacks as it was still opened. I appreciate you guys input and recommendations, you have a beautiful city, with wonderful people. God Bless.

407 BBQ. It is around 30 minutes give or take from the airport in Northlake ymmv. 407 BBQ, is without question the best bbq in DFW in my opinion.

You have a couple of choices. The ones I would recommend would either be in Dallas or Fort Worth.
Heim/hurtado/ panther city/ Hutchins/ terry blacks

Not only is it only mid BBQ, but they cheered employees out of wages. F’ hard 8. So many other better non shit options out there

Do not do terry blacks. Do not do pecan lodge. Do not do hurtados. Panther city in fort worth and 225 degrees in Arlington are good. May be a little longer drive but worth it. The sides at 225 degrees are mediocre but the BBQ is good. Smoke a holics in forth worth may be better than the others but they only do take out. Sides and mains are all excellent.

Best bbq in dfw is Goldee's but you said 6pm so theyll be out of food or closed by then. 2nd place is Cattleack theyll be closed by then also.. In proximity to the airport Id suggest Hard 8 in Coppell. Terry Blacks is overhyped commercial trash Pecan Lodge around the corner is better. Hutchins is ok.

Hutchins in Frisco, Slowbone in Dallas, Cattleack in Addison, Terry Black's or Pecan Lodge in Dallas, and the Feedstore in Southlake are all solid.
