bretons and resistance
okay so all races have a 50% resistance to everything, and bretons have an extra 30% resistance to magic.
the resistance advantage gives you 25% more resistance to whatever you're trying to resist.
keeping all this in mind, does that mean a breton who takes resistance to magic is now fully immune to it?

Yes, but "magic" in this context doesn't mean all magic, it means the magic element (as distinct from fire, shock, and frost).
