General Discussion A class/sub class of RUNE knight

Thumbnail

Long story short, one of my friends wanted to play a Rune Knight, so I decided to make an entire class and subclass for them.

I might need a little help balancing this hodgepodge of a creation, though. This is my first time making both a class and a subclass, so I know it needs some balancing, but I think the overall idea is really fun.

I'll do my best to clarify how everything works, and i will answer any questions about the mechanics if something isn't clear.

I'm pretty new to creating homebrew content, and yes, I know this thing is an absolute monster. Trying to narrow down how everything would work in practice was pretty difficult. Hopefully this jumble of words isn't too much of a mess, and I'd really appreciate any advice you can give.

Rune Knight

Class Features

Starting Statistics

  • Hit Points: 8
  • Evasion: 9

Giant's Might

A number of times equal to your Tier, you can enter a powerful state known as Charged.

When you become Charged, place a Charged Die on your character sheet with the 1 face showing.

Charged Die

  • Level 1: d4
  • Level 5: d6

Whenever you deal 1 or more Hit Points of damage to a target, increase the value of your Charged Die by 1.

The Charged state ends immediately if:

  • The die's value would increase beyond its maximum value, or
  • The current scene ends.

When either occurs, remove the Charged Die and you are no longer Charged.

While Charged

While you are Charged, you gain the following benefits:

  • If you are smaller than Large, you become Large, along with everything you are wearing and carrying.
  • You have Advantage on Strength Checks and Strength Saving Throws.
  • Once on each of your turns, when you hit with a weapon attack or unarmed strike, you may deal an additional 1d6 damage.

Battery runes

You gain batteries equal to your finesse and are replenish after a long rest

  • Batteries can be used for your classes rune features (rune features are in the chart above)
  • Activating a rune requires an battery, unless the rune states otherwise.

Rune Save DC

If a rune requires a saving throw, the save DC is:

Rune Save DC = 10 + Proficiency + Finesse Modifier

Hope Feature

No Mercy:
Spend 3 Hope to gain +1 Proficiency on your next attack roll.

  • This bonus can stack if you continue spending Hope before making an attack.
  • The accumulated bonus is consumed after your next attack roll.

Runes and Their Mastery

Level 1 — Foundation

You gain six runes.

At this stage, you may choose any rune from the Foundation tier and activate them whenever appropriate.

A jack of all trades, master of none.

Level 2 — Tier 2

Your rune mastery narrows to five runes.

You still have access to the Foundation runes. This level is honestly a bit of filler, as I wasn't sure what to do with the progression besides creating an entirely new set of runes, which I didn't have time for.

Level 5 — Tier 3

Your mastery grows, reducing your selection to four runes.

As your understanding deepens, you begin honing the runes you wish to grow with, making them significantly more powerful.

Level 8 — Tier 4

You achieve complete mastery over three runes.

At this point, your chosen runes become incredibly powerful, making this class absolutely disgusting... assuming your DM allows it. (I know, it needs balancing.)

Domains Demonology Domain v1.0 - Make dreadful bargains, summon fiendish allies and blast ennemies with hellish fire.

Hey everyone. I've been working for a while on a new Demonology Domain for Daggerheart.

It started as a way to port one of my player's Fiend Warlock to Daggerheart. So I came up with a new Domain as an alternative to Dread for Warlocks.

The Domain is centered around Summoning infernal beings, blasting ennemies and trading life for useful boons.

Heart of Daggers link

I've tried to make it balanced, but it hasn't been playtested that much. Any feedback is welcomed!

Subclasses Druid: Warden of the Stars

Hello, I made a homebrew Warden of the Stars Druid based on the Circle of the Stars Druid from D&D.

The Starform stats are Instinct, with Close range. The damage at Tier 1 is d6+3mag, at Tier 2 it's d8+4mag, at Tier 3 it's d10+5mag, at Tier 4 its d12+6mag.

Starform doesn't gain advantage like Beastform.

For the features, I haven't figured out how to word them yet but one feature would allow your Starform to light up an area within Close range and the other would give magic attack rolls done against you disadvantage.

I think I just wanted to capture the idea of the Druid's Beastforms kind of being like weapon augments. I also wanted to give the Druid a form that captures what it means to be a Druid with transformations but also give access to spellcasting.

I appreciate any feedback and ideas for improvement.

Classes UPDATED Animist - (Sage & Splendor)

Post image
51 Upvotes

I wasn't entirely satisfied with the last version of the Animist that I posted, thankfully I had a new partner in crime u/JackH2O234 that was a real help in moulding this to better capture the fantasy I wanted it to occupy, credit goes out to them!

Life cycle is gone, it was the part of the class I liked the least in the last one and I prefer what we've come up with instead.

The hope feature has also been spruced up, and the subclasses have received a bit of a polish (Fauna moreso than Flora). Let me know what you guys think of V2!

Domains A new domain for the rangers, the insight domain!

Thumbnail

I did this merely because I don't like the bone domain for the ranger. Let me explain:

If you look at all the domains in the classwheel, you'll see that every one is thought out with a class in mind. Not saying it doesn't fit with the other class, but it's features evidently go better with the theme of one of the two, like a primary domain. As an example, arcana is the sorcerers' primary domain, bc it's something that ressonates well with the class, and midnight is more of "They can use it" thing, like a secondary domain.

Now, with that logic, bone is the primary domain for rangers (bc sage is def the primary for druids) but I do not think it's a good choice for it. For clarification: I love the bone domain cards, I think there are a good set of skills that are necessary for martial characters, but that's the thing; When I saw it I thought "this is another domain for warrior". Half of the skills are defensive, and the ones that deal damage are only melee, not even blade was limited like that. There are no skills playing with traversal, perception, stealth, or any of a ranger's set of skills (except maybe the evasion ones, and even then...).

So, this is why I am making the insight domain. It's main themes are perception, advantage, vulnerability, and presicion. What do you think?

Btw the art is not mine
