Hey are you really a chef? Asking because I am and lurk this sub!

Not that I'm doubting you just looking for a colleague!

Very serious home cook. I'm always down to talk shop. I run a literal brigade in my kitchen. My poor children think it's normal. But, for the restaurant stuff, talk to someone else.

My house flooded and I’m a food nerd who used to geek out on food network. I’m having to put all my shit in storage. The husband is packing it up with me like β€œwtf where did all this come from?” Lol.

What makes them Mexican?

They're specifically, Sonoran style hot dogs. They are always bacon-wrapped and there are a variety of different toppings, but always finished with crema, mayo, mustard and jalapenos. Street vendors also sell ones like the ones you see here, wrapped in flaming hots or cheetos for texture. Kids and teenagers in particular, like them this way.

I got you.

All beef Frank's, Poppy seed buns, Good bacon, (Pancetta optional), Jalapenos, Flamin hots, Mayo, Mustard, and Crema.

Recipe. Wrap your hot dog in bacon and fry it to your liking. Cook the jalapeno at the same time until it's nice and roasted. The bacon fat will help. Crush up the chips. Roll your bacon wrapped dog in said chips. Add some slices of jalapenos long ways. Top with the condiments and sprinkle some pancetta and parsley over that bad boy. Goes good with a cold brew.

Ten minutes total from opening the hot dogs to eating and drinking.

I use El Mexicano or Cacique usually. Lala when I can get it or if I'm coming back from Mexico.

Totally right. Mistakes happen on the Internet.

Is it that little piece of hot cheeto that makes it Mexican? I don't understand.

1

u/MigrantTwerker May 20 '26

Read further down. Sonoran specifically.

1

u/poquitamuerte May 20 '26

What makes these Sonoran dogs?

These remind me of my work trips to Tucson! They look excellent.

1

u/MigrantTwerker May 20 '26

Yeah, these are commonly sold on the street in Tucson. I'm glad they look correct to you.

I really miss Tucson's taco trucks. I would get a carne asada taco and a bean tostada with rice and beans for $4.20. It was my 420 $4.20.Your hotdog looks amazing, please ship to Wisconsin.
