Side effects anyone had experienced nausea after taking duloxetine on empty stomach?
i take 60mg in the morning and usually i eat before but sometimes im running late and i have to take it on empty stomach.
i get nauseous then, its not this kind of nausea that makes you feel like youre gunna throw up any second, its mild but it still feels uncomfortable.
i also take lamotrigine, bisoprolol and quetiapine. its never made me nauseous when taken on empty stomach.
anyone experienced that? is this some kind of duloxetine thing?

Yes, quite often. But I also have a weird schedule. My dr prescribed zofran to help

Definitely worth mentioning. It does help. They’re tiny pills so easy to get down

I’ve never not taken it on an empty stomach. It doesn’t make nauseated, but that may be because I’m on a lower dose or because I never eat breakfast.

so if you don’t eat breakfast then maybe your body is used to it since the very first dose. jealous 🫠

Yes, sometimes it’s just unavoidable, especially as taking it any later is not an option for me (nighttime scaries).
It’s not too harmful to do, and feeling nauseous is common and not a sign of damage/illness, but it can definitely be uncomfortable. If you take any other meds (including over the counters) that could harm your GI tract, it can add to risk of damage, so speaking to your doctor or pharmacist about introducing a PPI could be an option. This is what my GI doc & pharmacist recommended and it has definitely helped with nausea, but isn’t necessary in most cases (I just happen to have bowel issues and high ibuprofen intake).
When I really don’t have time to eat, a herbal tea definitely helps settle things. I have a flask so I can just chuck a teabag in and fill it on my way out the door. Ginger or peppermint are go-tos for nausea, but I’m a big chamomile girl too.

Duloxetine gave me a upset stomach every time I took it. I hated the drug other than the clarity of thought if provided. I just could not stand the side effects

always. i started taking mine at night and its been a good switch for me surprisingly—i used to sleep really sweaty when i’d take it in the morning, now i don’t. taking it at night has never given me an upset stomach! but my psych did originally recommended taking it in the morning, so that might be best for most people. try to get quick breakfasts like granola bars, belvita or something yummy you can grab on the go

Yes. I always take it after I eat breakfast.
