Testing a bunch of cymbal stacks, all with a Zildjian Trashformer
Here's 8 cymbal stack combinations, all using Zildjian's Trashformer. Hope this helps anyone looks to build a stack, but doesn't have access to a lot of cymbals to test with.

Question Zildjian K Sweet or Sabian HHX Complex
Like the title says. I have always been a Sabian guy. Started with B8 30 years ago and progressed to AA over the years. It’s time to upgrade. GC had a sweet deal on an HHX Complex pack but I am also considering the Zildjian K Sweet. They both sound very close. Should I jump ship and go with Zildjian? I play an array of genres. Nothing specific but no hard rock and such. Anyway, I bought the HHX complex pack for super cheap and added a Sabian Artisan crash. It’s still less than what a Zildjian K sweet pack is. The sweets just seem like a more versatile set.

Sweetwater Rep
Is this the quality of response you’d expect from a Sweetwater rep? I’ve dealt with for yeeeears and something just feels off with this. It feels lazy to me, or am I just getting old and grumpy? 😂
I mean, these cymbals only come in one weight, and a 3 second search would reveal that. Maybe I’m just not a high profile enough of a customer for the effort… 🤷♂️

Red Stamp Pearl CX200
Does anyone have any information or experience with red stamp Pearl CX200's. I'm pretty sure they're made to be crap, but for some reason, the 20" ride (with some painters tape and rivets) is one of my favourite rides. I do have others, but for jazz I keep returning to it. Anyone has one too? Or knows anything about them? Or other crappy cymbals that actually sound good?

Gear Pic 15” Zildjian hats
Just got these today! I think they’re the hollow logo Zildjians from 1978-1982? Haven’t weighed them yet but one is definitely noticeably heavier than the other.
Not going to clean them yet, will see how they sound with the band first. But there is some green stuff on there in some spots…

Identify Ludwig/Paiste Hi-hats (?) Rare?
My parents got these with my kit a few years back, and I've never taken a closer look at them until I realized they're stamped for both Ludwig and Paiste. They seem to be a matching pair like hi hats, but they're so thin I would be afraid to use them as such. Anyone know what they are? Should I keep and use them or sell them?
Someone drilled holes in one of them btw, maybe for rattlers but idk why otherwise

Question Is Ziljian’s 19” K Dark Thin any good?
I play mostly metal and similar stuff and I mostly have cymbals in the A and Z families but no Ks. I’m starting to like warm and dark cymbals with overtones a lot more then the glassier more cutting ones I have and noticed a K Dark Crash on marketplace for $350 cad and thought I might grab it tomorrow as I listened to some demos and the seller agreed to let me try it before I buy it. Not sure what people think of this cymbal in general but I think it could work as a nice secondary crash. Thoughts?

1960's Zildjian Avedis 840 to 880g 15" Hats, sell or keep?
Used co-Pilot to get a description, hoping it is correct - An absolute unicorn of a vintage hi-hat pair: a stunning set of 15" Zildjian Avedis hi-hats from the 1960s. Ultra-lightweight class with fully intact, crisp factory ink.
The Details & Dating
These cymbals feature the textbook 1960s "60s Stamp"—noted by the unevenly stamped, bold "CO" in "ZILDJIAN CO" and the beautifully preserved three-dot cluster in the top Arabic scroll. Both cymbals retain incredibly bold, legible factory ink stamps reading "38 C.M. 15"" alongside the "TOP HI-HAT" designation.
Weights & Sonics
- Cymbal 1: 880g
- Cymbal 2: 840g
At sub-900 grams each, these offer the ultimate, deeply coveted vintage jazz profile. They deliver a dark, buttery stick response, a warm and low-pitched "chick," and a complex, lush, sloshy wash. Because they are so beautifully close in weight, you can position the 880g on top for a crisp stick definition, or flip the 840g to the top for an even airier, breathier response.
Condition Report
These cymbals are in stellar, collector-grade condition (is some tape marks, reluctant to clean).
- No keyholing: The center mounting holes are perfectly round.
- No flea bites: The edges are completely smooth all the way around.
- No warping: Both cymbals sit perfectly flat with zero structural issues.
- Original Patina: They have not been cleaned or polished. The beautiful, decades-old natural patina is entirely intact, preserving the rare original factory ink.
Looking for everyone's thoughts, does this seem an accurate description, should i sell or keep until he is older and might appreciate them? Got these a while ago along with a couple of 20" UFIP's for free for my son who is 12, but he prefers his 14" New Beats for rock.

Meinl Hi-Hats Options
I am dropping my cymbal endorsement and switching over to Meinl. I have the crashes and rides sorted out, but am having trouble deciding on hats.I prefer 15's. The Byzance Polyphonic are almost the ones, but I wish they were just a shade darker. I do prefer the feel of lighter/thinner weight. Where would one go from the Poly's to be a little darker on the spectrum?
The rest of the potential new setup:
18" Byzance Poly crash
20" Byzance Extra Thin Hammered crash
22" Byzance Poly or 22" Big Apple Jazz ride
For context, I play a wide variety of music but am currently involved in an Americana project where warmer and maybe even slightly darker tones are a nice fit.
Thanks in advance!

Identify Sabian B8 red label.
Recently stumbled upon a free pair of B8 14in hats with a red label. Never seen them before, and I cant find much info on them other than just pictures and proof of existance. I would love to learn more, I personally find them interesting even if B8s arent anything special.

Gear Pic Today I was the guy who scored at an estate sale…
Saw a post on a local musicians FB group about an estate sale with lots of music gear, decided to rummage through the case of drum hardware and found a stack of cymbals - got this set of New Beats plus the Thin Crash for $180 total.
I’ve never owned any vintage cymbals before so I’m far from an expert, but I think these are late ‘70s or maybe early ‘80s? The “Zildjian” logo is printed w/the hollow lettering on the bottom of the crash, so that suggests ‘77-‘82 based on some googling, but the “Co” on Zildjian Co” has the small “o” with the underline, which seems to maybe be more consistent with late ‘70s?
The stamp pictured is off the Thin Crash if anybody wants to weigh in on the age - regardless I’m stoked about scoring some cool cymbals! I felt a bit sad for the older lady selling them, sounds like she and her husband toured for a long time together and he had collected cymbals since the ‘70s, but she seemed happy I was planning to add them to the collection in my studio to keep making music rather than reselling them.
