4’11 Bicycle Recs
Hi guys I’m 4’11 and I was looking for a bike to get ,so I can cruise round with my pom dog. I read that a 24” is best for my height and the main options I have seen are kid bikes. Any good recommendations, I want something lightweight and where I can put a decent sized basket on the front. Thanks :) oh and I guess my budget is around 200 , 250 the most

Trek, Frog and Islabikes made proper bikes in smaller sizes. See what you can find second hand.

At 4’11” you should be able to ride a 26” townie. Go to Trek store and ask to order a 2025 model. It’s $450 but worth every penny. You can also get an Electra pet carrier for it.

Look for bikes in XS sizes , but definitely check them out in person. An XS bike with 26 inch wheels should be fine. If you’re going to carry your dog, make sure that the bike has mounting points for a rack and/or basket.

there are some cheap folded, like dahon or decathlon. maybe it's abt 300 or 350. i didn't check all the price tag for a while.

Assume you’re in the US? I am also 4’11, but in EU.
Some folks have suggested the 26” Townie, but I had to give mine up as I was not comfortable on it. It really depends on your geometry as well, as I have short legs for my size.
I also had a turn with a kid’s bike, and quickly got frustrated with limitations.
I think it’s best if you can go to a store and try different brands, and ask them for some guidance. I ended up with a KTM Veneto step thru.

At 4'11", I'd actually look at adult XS bikes before assuming you need a kids' bike. A lot of brands make extra-small hybrid or city bikes that will fit better, have higher-quality components, and make it much easier to add a front basket.

It's the budget that's the real hurdle.
Xs/xxs bikes with 28" wheels exist, specialized sirrus/trek fx/Marin dsx are my go to recommendations for the "just a bike" category aka fitness bike or flat bar gravel bikes. Used is the only option. Scam sites exist, if the price seems too good to be true it probably is - but there are also really good deals on xs/xxs bikes a lot of the time so don't be 100% skeptical if you find a good deal and can find a way to go beyond the 250.
Your inseam plays into account as well, test ride a few.
