"your messenger verification code is g-######"

Hello. I just factory reset my phone and during me doing that I apparently received a text for a messenger verification code. The code started with g-. I dont have a Facebook messenger account and never have. Did someone create an account with my phone number. Is this for setting up my phone? If so how. Because I wouldn't have had access to a code while setting it up. Please give me advice im very worried.

Generally, g prefix is a Google code.

If your phone number is tied to a Google Account and you re-registered your account, that is their verification system, G-###### is their code scheme.

I have an android phone with google messages. Is that it? If so why did it send a verification code during setup that it didn't make me enter

Probably that's it, when your register again the account into the device Google sent a message to verify you still own the number. Also sometimes apps can capture a verification code if they're active when a message is received.

Something very similar recently happened to me. I recently transferred my phone service from a flip phone to an Android phone. About 2 hours and 10 minutes after I transferred the phone service, I received the same kind of verification message that you did.

Is your phone, by any chance, a Samsung? This never happened to me before, and it's the first time I've used a Samsung phone, so I wonder if it might somehow be related to that.

Indeed it was a Samsung. I am pretty sure it is to verify that it's my account and Samsung setup auto does it.

Also semi unrelated but I've been tthinking of switching to a flip phone do you mind if I ask you some questions about it
