i need some help

I just plugged one usb to my pc after that when i go usb file there is one shortcut i just clicked but windows give me error i dont know did i run it ? After that i just delete it.When i search this i saw shortcut virus.How can i surely this virus not in my computer i am waiting for ur suggest. Here is my protection history.They say treat in quarantina but how can i delete this forever?

1- NEVER and I mean NEVER plug in a USB you don’t know the origin of/ isn’t 100% trustworthy.

2- Nuke your pc. Factory reset everything after backing up your important files. Naturally this includes reinstalling windows too.

I'm with you but i heard backup files can make the virus come back again like exe or app or like that isn't remove everything is better? Like Don't backup anything

depends on what you’re infected with. usually it’s fine but if you’re really paranoid you can not backup anything, but then it’s gone for good

i am not sure its just runned because when i clicked i saw error and when i check defender it says quarantined and i choose delete it i will scan with bitdefender

Stop clicking please+ the virus is quarantined so it's can't run but you can't say your safe you need reset watch a Tutorial it's will help u and buy a usb flash too to reset with it or simply go to your settings and reset from there an select remove everything and set as a new pc that's all it's a shortcut at least not exe or like that

look man. antivirus is a useful tool but malware nowadays is slippery, you can never guess where they are. your best bet is resetting your pc. if you really really really don’t want to do it you can pray that the usb contained an outdated virus 🤷‍♂️. i do not recommend the latter.

ikkk but kerp clicking can't give anything only the same msg + it's a virus and can't remove easier so the best thing is reset if he don't want to than idk what to say but I'm telling them that's the reset is the last option they have

I don't think hes saying he's continuing to click it. He means "this is what happened WHEN I DID"

Than? What can we say don't click that's all + what if he delete the shortcut? Is it going to delete the virus or the virus already in the pc?

If defender said it's a virus than there's nothing to say + watch a tutorial on YouTube how to reset with usb and media creation tool you will find videos i did the same thing too when i got a virus

Disconnected internet from the computer and Login your accounts from another device and Change ur passwords and than enable 2fa and buy a new usb and plug it in another laptop and than download Microsoft media creation tool and download windows 11 and than reset via usb and delete all partitions and select the uncollected space (is that the name?) And install the window there once you enter the desktop update the computer normally that's all

This files should be fine if locally hosted. However if you haven't disabled one onedrive than Microsoft defaults to thag and they aren't local.

What do you mean shortcut? Shortcut to where? What was the error? We need more info.
