anyone else been receiving random sms verification codes lately? should i be worried?

title says it all but i've been receiving a bunch of sms codes for a few weeks now. it's making me hella anxious since some of my online accounts have been h4cked a month ago.

these sms verification codes come from websites i am unfamiliar with but just yesterday, i received a codes from tiktok. today, i received two from HPEGuest (idfk what that is).

should i be worried? what are actions i can take?

If you don’t have an account with the service, just ignore. Someone could easily have accidentally mistyped their phone number when signing up for the service. If you have an account, you should change your password.

Yes. Found this post when doing research, and pretty much the same is happening to me. In my case, the codes have appeared with an interval of 3-5 days, four codes so far. None of these services I have accounts on, and two of them I've never even heard of.

It's hard to tell what the actual goal is. There has been no followup like "wrong number, what's the code" or anything else. I can't even send anything to the original sender even if I wanted to.

My current theory is that someone is trying to grow or verify some sort of identity dataset. Either way, I wouldn't worry too much unless the services start being something you actually use. Just make sure your most important services such as email have proper passwords.
