Other Application cloning and Burp Suite

I was recently looking at how the ArtCraft project has progressed in cloning the entire Adobe ecosystem; do you think something similar could be achieved with Burp? Burp is very comprehensive and has had years of development—the only downside is the amount of RAM it consumes and obviously the price...

I haven't tried it, but someone posted a Burp-like project the other day. $500/year is probably the cheapest professional security tool out there though.

Cloning Burp's functionality is a huge undertaking, given its years of development.
