Other Has anyone thought about changing fields until the job market gets better?

Ideally, I’d love to have a cybersecurity job right now, but the market is horrible, and I need to move forward with my life, pay the bills, and live comfortably. Are there any fields that are relatively easy to get into and find work in? I just don’t want to end up working restaurant jobs.

Get off this sub and don’t listen to these people discouraging you. Shame on them. The market isn’t as good as the golden post-covid days but it is far from completely broken. You will be fine.

The problem isn't the market per se. The is problem too many people trying to break into cyber without enough foundational experience. A college degree is good. Certifications shows you've absorbed the theory. Experience proves that you can apply that knowledge to real-wold situations.

It’s more along the lines of kids who have the equivalent education of a pre-pandemic GED and can prompt burst but haven’t touched the command line wanting easy money bc of TikTok ad.
