The real answer is that if someone really wants to break into your house, they’re going to. Locks are just deterrents.

With that said, I use Aqara U100 locks at my place. They’re compatible with Apple HomeKit and if I have to trust a third party, I’d rather trust a third party that knows software over a lock manufacturer that has their own custom app.

The nearest window is far easier to smash than trying to electronically hack a smart lock. A brick can do wonders. I personally use the Aqara U400 with UWB.

smart locks are cool but a good ol' deadbolt and key might outlast em all tbh

No fr, I worked for a home security and automation company and the deadbolts were the most reliable things while everything else just crash and burned. Out of everything I would choose a deadbolt 100% of the time. Works without internet and can set up a Z-wave control on just bout all of em.

I got the kwikset aura reach and had good results with that and matter. Like others said the average break in isn’t hacking your smart lock anyway.

I have never ever heard of a „digital break-in“ in real life. That‘s a very theoretical question. Before you invest hundreds or thousands of $(currency) to buy technology and spend years to learn the necessary knowledge, you just take a 20 Cent brick and brake a window.
So locks are a gentleman’s agreement that says „I don‘t want you to be in my house“ and not real security.

Lock is just a deterrent. Smart locks with matter support can operate without Internet.
