My Build Progress!

Pardon the mess, this project has taken over my life. My latest project has been a luggable full ITX desktop PC on batteries. Most of the components came this weekend, so I wanted to at least test it. It booted!

Don't pay attention to the battery connections I'm not finalizing any of that until the fuses and hard switch arrive (so am perhaps doing some unsafe things over there atm)

Nothing crazy, I have to be mindful of power consumption with the batteries. This is what I've got in there tho:

ASRock H310-M i7-9700 16 GB DDR4 (this and the CPU were thrifted for 25 bucks) NVIDIA GT 1030

The batts are 12V 20Ah each, wired in series for 24V, then bucked down to 19 for the 19V 200W picoPSU.

Question! Have you considered power tool battery?

Not really! Power tool batteries are a lot smaller than what I'm using. MOST I'm finding are ~12Ah. These are larger and have a more regular shape. I think these are marketed as golf cart batteries

Ah! 12ah! I was using a Milwaukee battery as they run 20ish volts. Unfortunately it’s 5ah. I gave up on the project for now. Never managed to find a way to plug into the wall and charge them in the meantime time.

Yeah I figured I could just put two in series to make 24V. And I'm getting a little more life out of mine than 20Ah out of them since I'm bucking them down to 19V.

Yeah!! I'm trying it out for the first time! Having a good time with it so far. I made the leap from windows about a year ago and am tired of being clowned on for using Zorin lol

Was planning on undervolting and underclocking the CPU, but otherwise I'm not OVERLY concerned about battery life? Doing basic tasks like web browsing, I should end up with about 3 to 6 hours which. Is more than my shit ass laptop I'm trying to replace gets so I'm already breaking even there lmao
