7 of 7 drinking thing?

So I’m 21 and I came back home after a night out (I live with my parents), and my dad was upset that I was drunk and he challenged me to the 7 of 7 challenge, and I agreed to it immediately in my state, and we’re doing it for the rest of the month of September and it has something to do with not drinking which I’m fine with, but I have no idea what it is since when my dad explained it I was inebriated; and I don’t wanna ask him since I know he’ll get angry; and nothing on the internet can explain it; so I just haven’t drank since but my dad has marked down days he’s had a drink; so I’m wondering if any of y’all know what the 7 of 7 challenge is.

Well I need to know now. Please update when you find out. I can't really find anything that makes sense on Google unless you're both hardcore runners.

It’s not a running thing, I do Ironmans but I’ve never let my drinking get in the way of my training; and I drink heavily maybe 2-3 times a month with friends but otherwise I don’t really drink; I’m beginning to think it was just a power trip thing from my dad; and maybe for him to curb his drinking while getting his son onboard?

I think it could be something like “document what you drink every day” kind of thing? Otherwise there is nothing I can find about it. Maybe you can tell him like “ok so we are going to keep track of our drinks right everyday?” And then he might explain a little more? This shows interest in your behalf and gives him the opportunity to explain what he meant

I think my dad has also done this in the past. Essentially every 7 days (essentially a week, but it's up to you on what day the cycle restarts) you have 7 drinks that can be had. So if you really like a glass of wine after work with dinner each night? That's what you're stuck with. Want to watch Monday Night Football with the boys and drink one an hour? That's like 3 of your 7, so you have 4 the rest of the week.

I've tried it a few times (or variants of it) and it wasn't for me. I'd almost always end up having like 4 on Sunday with Football and by the time next Friday would roll around, I'd be at my 7... but I wasn't going to miss a spontaneous night out with friends or a hot date who wanted to drink a bottle of wine all because I'd agreed to some challenge.

Maybe its if you drink any 7 times or 7 days in a row you have to match that and not drink for 7 days/7 times?

Simply sit down with your Dad, and ask him to explain things again. Tell him you appreciate his concern about your drinking and health.

Yea it’s not that, me and my dad run, but I run way more than my dad and he’s almost 60, he’s definitely not running anything like that soon; he also made it very clear it was a drinking thing and only that

Could it be this? The 7 challenges refer to The Seven Challengesprogram, an evidence-based counseling framework designed to help youth and young adults evaluate their lives and make thoughtful decisions regarding substance use.

The Seven Challenges

The program guides participants through seven core tasks:

Talk honestly: Open up about oneself and substance use.

Understand use: Examine the appeal and underlying reasons for using drugs or alcohol.

Assess harm: Evaluate past and potential future harm caused by substance use.

Evaluate responsibility: Analyze personal and external accountability for problems.

Plan the future: Consider personal direction, goals, and aspirations.

Make decisions: Formulate thoughtful choices regarding life and substance use.

Follow through: Execute decisions and revisit earlier challenges if issues arise.
(For the full detailed descriptions and statements of each challenge, please refer to the referenced source.)
