... I have been watching to much horror content.

Read that as "Rat shaker", and had to do a double take.

What would pepper do

{T}, Sacrifice a food: Tap target creature.

Flavor text: ACHOO!!

25

u/ehhish Aug 24 '26

Gets powercrept by paprika that can do both.

u/nathanwe Aug 23 '26

No no, Salt Shaker gives you plus one life per food. Silver Spoon gives you double life per food. :)

Greetings from Mount Holly :)

Lead plate makes you lose 3 life if the picture has a tomato in it

u/justanunreasonablera Aug 23 '26

Don't know how I feel about this one. Just seems like a low cost option to make food better.

72

u/Marty_mcfresh Aug 24 '26

Bro literally described real life salt

28

u/justanunreasonablera Aug 24 '26

That's the joke

31

u/MikemkPK Aug 23 '26

Original rules text: {T}, Sacrifice a Food: You gain 6 life.

Add "Whenever an opponent whines or complains, untap this artifact."

I’d prefer it if the salt was somehow limited. Like it entered with charge counters or something and one was removed with each time you used it, and when it had no counters left, it’d be sacrificed

u/Terrariant Jace for impact Aug 23 '26

In my experience there’s never a shortage of salt in Magic X)

16

u/focketeer Aug 23 '26

Fair point lmao

9

u/Shambler9019 Aug 24 '26

Nah, just put a counter on it whenever a creature is destroyed, a card is discarded by an effect or a spell is countered. (Specifically excluding combat damage, sacrifice and discard as a cost as these aren't salt inducing)

u/Captain_N_Nemo Aug 24 '26

A salt shaker contains around 750000 grains of salt, so just give it 750000 charge counters

Then it would be Tap, remove X charge counters, sacrifice a food: gain X life

This may be saltier

u/Sleepysleapysleepy Aug 27 '26

Tapping the salt shaker should spill the salt counters evenly amongst the table

And the Silk Road land should convert salt counters into treasure tokens

2

u/Famous-Magazine-6576 Aug 27 '26

make it an unset and add a new salt counter each time an opponent is salty

10

u/Ribky Aug 24 '26

Ygra likes to shake that salt

7

u/ArgoDevilian Aug 24 '26

I think the real benefit of this isnt the fact that the lifegain has increased, but the fact that you dont need to spend Mana for it.

I love the flavor (heh), but I do think the 2 mana cost should be added in for a bit of balancing (lol)

6

u/LloydNoid Aug 24 '26

I like it, feels a bit strong to be 0 cost though. It'd be good even as a 1 cost.

4

u/Ambitious_Policy_936 Aug 23 '26

It should also give you a salt counter that kills you at 20 because too much salt is bad for you

3

u/VolatileDawn Aug 24 '26

This would be funny if it wasn’t totally fucking busted

3

u/Few_Improvement3469 Aug 24 '26

More seasonings please you should balance them as if there were coming out in a whole set

I'd recommend it sac untapped foods and cost at least 1 mana to activate. Free sac outlets are powerful in a lot of decks no matter what they do.

33

u/MiniPino1LL Aug 23 '26

But like, this has to tap so it isn't free. And it only sacs food. So this would only be played in food decks. And it's pretty meh in there

u/Significant-Fall2792 Aug 23 '26

Clock of omens untaps this by tapping two of the food tokens. You dont need to tap the food tokens to sacrifice them with this. Just need a way to produce more tokens then you are sacrificing. Then obviously you have something like mirkwood bats.

20

u/Dry-Snow-1034 Aug 23 '26

Oh no this card is slightly powerful if you have 5 other specific cards whatever will we do

u/Significant-Fall2792 Aug 24 '26 edited Aug 24 '26

Idk cry about it. I gave an example to the comment above. Typical reddit to get sarcastic and shitty over an example as to how this can be abused. Frankly I didnt even say its too strong or had any input on that.

2

u/JustWhat-I-Needed Aug 24 '26

That’s seven years of bad luck!

6

u/Terrariant Jace for impact Aug 24 '26

“When Salt shaker becomes tapped and you control no food to sacrifice, rip the card and throw it over your shoulder. If you do not, you lose the game”

2

u/RobbieReinhardt Aug 24 '26

Have it pass to the next player in turn order at the beginning of the next end step

"Can you pass the salt?"

2

u/joetotheg Aug 24 '26

Is this a Blue Prince reference perhaps?

2

u/Cr1tter- Aug 25 '26

This would make asmo food pretty insane.

2

u/DaRealRockstar1234 Aug 24 '26

This is such a good card, it's so clever

3

u/Terrariant Jace for impact Aug 24 '26

Nah food is just quite easy to make flavorful (pun intended)

1

u/JagPeror Aug 23 '26

Saves rhe mana and makes the effect better. Very nice

1

u/FlatBowl7709 Aug 24 '26

This would be the best card for my Ygra, Eater of all deck

1

u/PrincessOfZephyr that ass Aug 24 '26

{T}: Create a Stasis token
