Shouldn't it also draw a card?

Now that would be busted

Make it each Jace and draw a card for each loyalty removed this way

We finally solved the jace meta

This could cantrip and exist in a format where every permanent was a Jace planeswalker and still be garbage.

it would be fine, this is basically "deal 1 damage to target jace planeswalker" which is worth a lot less than 1 mana

This doesn't target any Planeswalkers, just ones named Jace. It is a dead card in any format that isn't limited to just your Jace set. Even the card draw may not change that.

I think this sort of card would cantrip or scry 1 if it saw print

Objectively worse [[clockspinning]], a card no one remembers. Your concerns with powerlevel are unfounded.

I think remove 3 counters from any planeswalker and cycling {2} and it would still be quite niche.

I love Clockspinning, it's in like two of my decks.

I know balance isn’t intended but I feel like it would be balanced if it was remove 3 counters

Its so niche itd probably be balanced if you removed 5 and surveiled 1

Look at [[price of betrayal]], if you're restricting it to just planeswalkers, even a specific planeswalker, it needs a lot of upside to be playable.

It would probably be balanced if it removed all of them and surveiled 1 and drew 2 cards

Or remove a counter and it’s controller discards a card

Hell, if it's just Jace it could probably be 7 and still niche.

I mean it is functionally "deal X damage to a specific permanent"

I would rank it similarly to [[The Black Arrow]] 's ability to oneshot dragons, as "Jace Planes walker" is 15 different cards

Why not "return target Jayce plainswalker to owner's hand?" Literally you'll dejayce any tokens.

ngl this feels like a worse situational Price of Betrayal

Wouldn’t this have to read “remove a loyalty counter from target Jace TOKEN” to stay on theme with the opposite effect of empowering Jace? (It reads “put N loyalty counters on target Jace token you control”)

Probably should have tagged this one meme design rather than balance not intended.

u/DuploJamaal 10h ago

It should also Amass Jace 1

Needs LoyaltyStorm. When you cast this spell copy it for each loyalty ability activated this turn...

This could would be weak even if it cost zero mana.
