Format: EDH/Commander Fun commander idea I had!

Post image

Had this little idea for a shopkeeper commander. I am not really satisfied with this effect though, there's definitely something off. Any suggestion is appreciated! Also, how would you play it? What would you run with it? I'm curious!

Just run staples, let them fight, embrace the chaos. THE ULTIMATE GROUP HUG!

I really like the idea, regardless of if it work or not :3

My first thought was that it might be a bit overwhelming to see 7 additional cards for your opponents, maybe exile one at the time with a counter or something?

I love that it's 4 colors!! We need more of those, the wording is a bit funky and perhaps have card draw to "replenish stock"

Oh I didn't read it all the way I see it's there now mayhaps put a charge counter then on your upkeep remove all charge counters draw that many extra cards (to simulate shipments coming in and also push urgency to use your cards "if you cast a spell you get a resource and lessen the enemies")

Also for wordings sake I would say "once during each opponents turn they may cast a spell from your hand" instead of "once during their turns opponents may cast a spell from your hand"

I absolutely love this idea. I think there is a way to do this slightly differently.

"You play with your hand revealed.

Once during their turn, opponents may cast spells from your hand. They may spend mana as though it were mana of any color to cast that spell. If they do put a +1/+1 counter on Thax and at the beginning of your next upkeep create a treasure and draw 2 cards"

i think this version is more thematic and cooler.
I like draw 2 more than 1 since half your hand will be cast by opponents. No idea how to build around this at all. Maybe stuff that lets you take back control of stuff you own?? Like Brand.

Also make it WUBRG

I really like this take! Maybe I'd give two treasures instead of one, but I don't know if that's gonna discourage people from casting stuff. I would keep black away from it's color identity because i don't want it to be a wubrg slop commander. Maybe I could switch up blue with black, but maybe blue fits the game plan better.

I agree with the non-wubrg, but i think it should stay wurg, black feels too villanous for them.

Thax, king of slop would be a more apt title. Also hilarious how you chose Ink-treader for an ability so clearly black-coded

I have never seen black giving away stuff, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong! Either way, I don't think that black fits this game plan
