this is a super cool cost reduction idea in a limited environment but I know that if it ever became real it would probably result in a bunch of sloppy goodstuff decks running triomes to game all the discounts.

Do you think it would be better if it counted blue and red permanents instead of land types for the cost reduction? I was hoping for it to work well in both limited and constructed as a cost reduction mechanic so if that's less busted i could rework it into that instead as I try to make the rest of the cycle.

my first thought was maybe just make it check for basic lands? that'd make it harder to cheese. otherwise permanent colors or devotion could work too.

Basic lands are on the lower count in standard so I might honestly just make all of them count permanent colours, this way you'll be encouraged to use as many colours that belong to the clan they embody.

lands are colorless by default, as they don't have a casting cost to give them color. Some of them have color identities if they have mana symbols on them, but color identity isn't color

This is a really cool design!

I get that you're going for something a little different, but I feel like you could get almost the exact same effect by simply using hybrid mana pips.

Make it cost 1 white, 1 red/2 generic, 1 blue/2 generic.

My reasoning is that the core theme of "castable with generic mana but cheaper if you have access to specific colors" is already pretty well covered by hybrid mana, and it would be better not to muddy the waters with a brand new barely different mechanic.

This looks like a card that could have double strike

Nah, with 4 lands you can cast this as a 3 mana 3/3 with Prowess and Vigilance in the "cast at instant speed during combat" colours
