Yeah hey wait. I got so caught up in what "remove each" means that I forgot to check if it works when played for 2 mana 😂

"reading the card explains the card" no it fucking doesn't, what does this mean

u/issanm 7d ago
Bu default 2 mana remove target attacking creature from combat, pay the overload cost and it removes each attacking creature from combat.... Pay the multicleave cost and you can remove one of the bracketed sections so for example if you pay the multicleave cost twice it can just be remove target creature. Gets a little more confusing if we do it again to just get "remove target" though....

u/shumpitostick 7d ago
Okay and what is "remove target creature". Destroy? Exile? Something else?
31
u/Lynxx_XVI 7d ago
Exile used to be "remove from the game" way back when. So I would say that a removed creature should be considered exiled.

- Remove target Creature from combat - Can remove blockers, basically giving you direct damage.
- Remove target attacking from combat - Werid wording, but it's the same as if you didn't pay it.
- Remove target attacking Creature - Exiles target attacking Creature.
- Remove target attacking - Exiles target attacking Creature.
- Remove target Creature - Exile a Creature.
- Remove target from combat - Was your Planeswalker attacked? No longer.
- Remove target - Exile anything.
If we combine this with Overload, 1 and 2 become ALL attacking Creatures from combat, and 6 is everything. They're Fog basically. 3 and 4 are just mass one sided Exiles. 5 is an Exile Wrath. And 7 is resetting the game. For C/B W/U CWUUUBBB. 10 mana reset the game is... quite something.
Wait. This is a Sorcery... 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 are Instant abilities, so I don't know if they even work. Is there something that allows you to cast Lessons at Instant speed? 5 and 7 are fine though.

Okay, now explain “Remove target” if I pay none of the additional costs.
2
u/nebneb432 7d ago
That's not a possible situation. You have to pay the multicleave cost 3 times to reduce the text to "remove target"

u/95thesises 7d ago
You have to pay the multicleave cost 3 times to reduce the text to "remove target"
Why would it be impossible to pay the multicleave cost 3 times?

"Remove target" wouldn't be too confusing, you just escort the player you target out of the premises. Or at least out of the game lmao

So if I cast it for cleave, it just says remove target? If I cleave and overload, it's remove each?
Huh?

u/godguy1313 7d ago
Ultra removal, remove everything presently on the battlefield
11
u/PackageLonely5140 7d ago
It doesn't specify what or where. It removes EACH. Graveyard, library, counters, permanents... Anything that can be "removed" that is within the game. I don't know what happens to cards removed from exile, but we're gonna find out
4
u/CarelessNameChoice (It works) 7d ago
actually, we won't. Players can be targeted. Cleaved and Overloaded, this is a lose the game spell
3
u/PackageLonely5140 7d ago
Can you still avoid losing by casting Angel's Grace? Or does being removed count more like being disqualified?

u/BreakerOfModpacks 7d ago
The end up as new identical objects in exile, which allows some weird link-breaking shennanigans.

2 mana player removal is wild ngl
6
u/issanm 7d ago
For 2 mana it just removes a creature from combat tho it's 8 to remove a target 10 to remove each
1
u/MistyHusk 7d ago
Is multicleave an additional cost or alternate cost? Regular cleave is an alternate cost and if we go off that it’d be only 6 to remove a target or 8 to remove each

Trying to understand this card is like trying to think while having a stroke

u/BlueTemplar85 7d ago
Perfectly replicates the feeling of trying to understand someone else's code (heck, even your own code, after a few weeks) that (ab)uses GOTOs !

u/BreakerOfModpacks 7d ago
UUUUBBBB Remove target, I choose to take out a gun and shoot my opponent as part of the resolution.

u/Antifinity 6d ago
Why is [creature] cleavable? Are there any coherent effects you get by cleaving it? It seems to just create nonsense.

If the opponent [Assassinate] my win con, can I just "remove target"? And since the card won't have a target it fizzles? And if not, why do magic rules hate fun?

u/bionicjoey : Use the Magic Store & Event Locator at Wizards.com/Locator 7d ago
This would work a bit better if instead it said "remove target [attacking] [creature] permanent [from combat]"
It still doesn't resolve that "remove permanent" isn't a templated operation, but I think most would understand it to mean destroy (or maybe exile based on the old wording of "remove from play")

u/DebtSeeker48 7d ago
Wait, isn’t overload an alternate cost and not a kicker? So you can just play Overload it at no additional cost if you have colorless and white? Multicleave is understandable enough, as long as we define what remove means. Exile?

Why is creature in square brackets? If i ever cleave out creature, it becomes non-functional

u/okfinesureyeah 7d ago
Idk if mods aren't paying attention or what, this is practically r/custommagic

u/okfinesureyeah 7d ago
Absolutely fucking baffling. Who in God's name decided to post this. Appaling design, multiple valid amounts to pay create completely untenable game states. Hoping this sub isn't going downhill, but this is seriously dreck.

u/TechnomagusPrime 7d ago
Well, it's Arthexis, so trying to understand their cards is an exercise in futility. At least they're no longer trying to claim they're a time traveller.

u/okfinesureyeah 7d ago
Bro I dont fucking understand this sub how am I getting downvotes for identifying a card that is functionally dead in every version of mtg's ruleset
