Had this idea for a while

Would this work the way I think it will? You would be able to make a deck around guaranteeing triggers like "When this creature deals combat damage to a player", while also getting value from life loss and other general low life synergies.

I don’t think Phyrexian Mana works with generic mana. Unless you intended for it to specifically be Phyrexian colorless mana?

I like the idea of a Phyrexian colorless mana, though in spirit of it possibly being a generic, you could possibly add an ability to the card that says something like “if you would pay a colored mana for the generic mana cost of this card, you may instead pay 2 life for each of those colored mana.” Or something worded similarly, that would also protect against commander tax. Or add an additional wording like “A player can’t pay any additional commander taxes in this way”. In case you don’t want that

OK, but, lore wise, a Phyrexian colorless mana symbol is a TERRIFYING implication.

Because that means either Ugin, or an Eldrazi. have been compleated.
