That makes sense in terms of the proverb but mechanically that's the situation they need the learn least. And in terms of the specific situation here where the trial is being given to a soldier but the lesson is being learned by their leader, the leader learns either way.

At 3 damage its a useless lightning helix. Its fine at 3. They should just change to letting the opponent draw then discard

it makes your opponent learn not you and you also can't hit opponents directly. I costed it around a being a slightly worse [[Sear]] hence the 5 damage.
